Re: uno turbo

I would think that an Uno Turbo for 200 quid is going to be like a Ferrari for 20000 quid...

You should buy the best example that you can... Though the Uno Turbo tends to be pretty reliable with its fuel injection etc. it's going to need lots of work at that price I reckon... good luck!

Re: uno turbo

there was a great example of what your looking for on ebay a bit back, completly rusted body and it was too unsafe to drive heh but the engine was only like 30000miles and in mint condition... went for 75 quid in the end i believe

Re: uno turbo

I think an UT for that price is too good to be true. They are extremely rare nowadays, especially the mark 1s! To get a decent UT you would need to expect to pay somewhere between 1000 to 1500 pounds.
If it is priced that cheap you need to check the bodywork very closely, look for rust under the arches, especially inside the car (under the carpet in the rear) where the suspension towers are as this is a common place for it to occur. Also check around the sun roof, under the bonnet etc. Rust on doors or bonnet doesnt mean walk away as it can be cured easily but if you see any rust on the chassis then you may be in store for expensive repair bills or worse having to scrap the car.
Engine wise look for the obvious, make sure the oil isnt black etc, if it is walk away straight away. Start it up, make sure that there isnt any blue smoke coming out the exhaust as this will indicate a blown TurboCharger and white smoke which indicates a Head Gasket failure. And check all the usual, suspension, electrics etc

Re: uno turbo

Thanks for backing me up on that one FRO$TY...
I know that any car over 10 years old is cheap in the UK, but knowing what goes wrong with Uno Turbos I naively hoped that a Mk1 like mine was worth quite a bit more! I paid the equivalent of 900 pounds... :-)
