Cool, good to see you have some knowledge to work from

Would you want to the Uno to do that rally?

Re: fiat uno turbo ie 1988

if i can get the hand brake to work properly ..yes i will use it in the local championship. i dont need much power there..as the circuits are slow and with a lot of bends ( mostly "U" turns)..the uno is more than capable

Re: fiat uno turbo ie 1988

@justaboy69 i am way off-buget now...spent very much on rebuilding it than on tuning it....
but if you can help with ideas starting from cheap to expensive i would be gratefull to you.

Re: fiat uno turbo ie 1988

i read that this engine with it's own(stock) turbo makes full boost in 4th gear around 3500 rpm...knowing this i tested the stock car, and i confirmed it, and after that i installed a boost controler..i adjusted the bost gradually to about 1 bar i think question:
- when i press the acceleration to the floor in 4th gear around 3500 rmp the boost rises to a max of 1 bar ..but just for a second..then it drops to 0.7-0.8..and stays there. what i'm asking is: is this the "1 bar limit" or i can safely raise the boost until it stays at 1 bar in fool thotle in 4th gear over 3000 rpm ? ?!?!?!

cost new from turbo dynamics is about 750 quid, good for 200bhp,

other modifications i have are K&N air filter, Pace alloy intercooler, scorpion exhaust with powerflow backbox, FSE adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

That's not the "1 bar limit" - the reason you shouldn't go over 1 bar is because that is all the injection ECU 'knows' how to add fuel for. More than 1 bar and you risk underfuelling - lean running, melting pistons, etc.

There is a switch on the end of the plenum chamber that cuts out the ignition at 0.6-0.7 bar - so that is the standard 0.7 bar limit. I expect you have already disconnected that switch.

If you can't sustain over 0.6 bar it sounds to me like you have a boost leak. A split in a pipe opens when you hit 1 bar, and then some of the pressure leaks away. Go right through the pipework inspecting for slits (also listen for odd noises under boost), start at the pipe from the turbo itself, and don't forget to check the plastic end tanks of the intercooler.

Also bear in mind that under hot conditions with the standard turbo, you may find the boost level drops off slightly (e.g. to 0.9bar) at high RPM (say, over 6000) due to clever engineering of the turbocharger being ideally suited to the engine. A larger turbo will carry on boosting (and over-boosting) at high revs. The power peak of the Uno Turbo engine is quoted at 5600 (from memory).
