uno turbo

just bought my uno turbo, 1.4 turbo, 1994, and the bottom end is knocking, no realy knocking.

ive had the shells of the bottom end, and it needs a crank and conrod grind, thats £150+ then oversized shells aswell,

can i put a 1.3 turbo engine in, any changes need?

any1 got a spare uno turbo engine, or know of any?

cheers

Re: uno turbo

Yes you can put a Mk1 engine in, I saw a Mk2 Uno Turbo a week ago with this very mod. Owner used top end from Mk2 - injection, cam cover and, I think, cylinder head.

I guess another option would be to source a Tipo 1372cc bottom end, or build that 1600 turbo you've always wanted ;-)

BTW it's real unusual to have those problems with a FIAT engine, must have had neglected oil changes or some such?

Re: uno turbo

alright mate, it is very rare to have those knocking probs on a UT. personally i wouldn't get a mk1 engine, get the mk2 as parts are easier to get and the bigger capacity helps top end revs and bottom end pull. much more modern style engine too

Re: uno turbo

Did you not test drive it before you bought it?

Re: uno turbo

yeah, that why i got ,it on the cheap, shell the body shell is mint, and ive alsways wanted 1, so i got it.
the crank looks a bit ruff on no. 4, the rest are fine, gonna try a set of shells in it, let you no what happnes.

i did thnk of puttin 1.4 top to 1.3 bottom, as 1.4 bottom are hard to source.

just want to get it goin, and it did not just knock but it F***in knocked. the shell was in 2 pices when i pulled it of the cap..

is a punto gt the same(ish) engine?
