Re: bolt on carb

Check the inlet manifold for leaks as well.

Re: bolt on carb

the car starts up and sounds bad, mainly due to a loose bearing on the cambelt, but when driving the car seems to lack power, (i.e. in second i will put the pedal 2 the floor and the car pulls away but in fits and starts, kinda doesnt get all the power down at once just decides when it wants to go and is as if i am coming on and off the clutch all the time, so my head bobs around in the car!

Re: bolt on carb

What engine have you got? I would still say clean the carb, it´s worth it.

Re: bolt on carb

Smokeme, how would one go about doing this?

So far I'm thinking...

Take off air box and spray carb cleaner/spray in while revving the engine?

Or you could tear the carb apart, loose a few pieces put it back together and find car won´t even start . Use the spray then say how it went.

Re: bolt on carb

Has it got manual choke? If so, when it's driving badly, does it run any
better if you put the choke on slightly?

Have you run the petrol tank low recently?

Re: bolt on carb

If it's from 1994, it's most likely an injection unit and not a carburettor. Is the car named 1.0 ie or something. Then it's got a Bosch MonoJettronic (SPi) module. It's a hybrid injection / carburettor. Check this first.

Morten.
