well, this is my Uno sx(y)
S5022393.JPG

My first fiat, and car btw.
I haven't done so much to it yet, but there is some work to be done:p
there are some technical problems, and there are some rust to take care of and some painting. on the right side there are 3 shades of grey:bang:
S5022410.JPG

the sx had a controll panel in the dashboard, where I got some problems:(
S5022401.JPG

you see:confused:
I have figured out 3 of them, it's only the one who controlls the lights I can't understand:bang:

now, just if someone wondering, i got an grille called hellagrille, with built in lights, it is not original, but it's made to fit the uno, i don't know if it was made one for the MK2:confused:

the engine is good, the carburretor needs a clean and to be reset, but the rest is in pretty good shape.

my father got an Uno 45 fire, which i use parts from, the engine is good, but there is so much rust on it..
S5022440.JPG

the mileage isn't that bad 155000km (96875miles)

nice looker! don't worry about the paint, mines far worse, watch the rust though, keep on top of it or you'll come out one morning to a pile of brown ash....

that white 45 looks nice....i could do with a decent white bumper(y), is that a turbo bumper on your sx?

edit: by the way, don't be shy, use the full size image,

yeah, i'll do that, don't want a pile of brown ash:p
and, yes it's a uno turbo bumper(y)
yeah, the 45 is a nice car, but that is soon a pile of brown ash:cry:
my father bought

when I opened my thread, there was full size on the pics:confused:

well, i'm new at this, so I have to find out of things:D

Nice project (y)
I like those side decals and the alloy wheels - rare!

3-door too - another plus, I've only seen or heard of five-door SXs, so a great find there! Can't see any rust in the pics either :)

I love the headlight wipers (or wiper in this case), I reckon very few Unos in the world have that feature. I also like the way your engine temperature is nice and warm, thermostat must have been replaced? Usually they're stuck open and the temperature never gets over 70. It's better for the engine oil to have the temperature high - helps to get rid of fuel and water in the oil - and the heater works better.

You might like to consider painting the bottom part of the bumper in body-colour as I think that helps to make the front look lower and wider. But equally there are people who prefer the all-black look, so that's up to you. I noticed that your 'spare' 45 has an all-white bumper and I quite like that as well :)

Check panel bulb failure warnings are often because of poor front sidelight contacts or incorrect wattage bulbs (replace in pairs!)

In the rear light cluster, you may like to solder all bulbholders to the central baseplate - you need extra flux to solder the galvanised steel - and add an extra earth wire if needed. The poor earthing could be 'tricking' the check computer by making it think that bulbs are not dropping the correct voltage. This is especially if the bulb-failure light comes on when you select reverse, put your foot on the brake, etc. as that means the extra load of the reverse/brake lights overloads the earth and some of the current flows back through the sidelight circuit - confusing the computer. 'Strengthen' the earth connection and you fix the fault - maybe

Cheers,
-Alex

Thanks, I like them too:p

yep, I like the three door Uno better than the five door anyway(y)
There is enough rust on the car, I'll post some photos

I am looking for another wiper, kinda stupid with only one
but then I guess they are hard to come by:confused:
I don't know, it may been replaced, I haven't quite gone over the bills from the workshops:eek:

I thought about repaint it in a matt black finish(y)
the 45, my father bought the car new in 1985 or 84, then he bought styling from fiat, and had it painted white, on the front bumper there was a:confused: don't know the english word:eek: but it was lower, with foglights(y)

I'll check that, thanks;)

The date on the photos is not right:p

there is some of the rust, there are a bit more......

The early SX models had this 'check panel' and it was notorious for giving faulty information. Fiat discontinued it on later SX models as they were known for going wrong. I have a magazine review somewhere of a new Uno SX and it had faulty warning lights on the check panel!

Your best bet is to disconnect it ;)

Congratulations on your car, the SX has to be the rarest of the mk1 Unos now ;)

Nice project (y)

Yup, very rare. I've never actually seen any in the flesh, only in pictures!

3-door too - another plus, I've only seen or heard of five-door SXs, so a great find there! Can't see any rust in the pics either :)

Three door SX models were offered in the first two years of production (1985/ 86 in the UK), but from 1986 onwards only in five door form.

Here's a brochure on EBay showing a new 3 door SX:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1984-FIAT-UNO...hash=item300240906356&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318

And two more showing 5 door SX's:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1987-FIAT-UNO...hash=item300240317688&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/rare-FIAT-UNO...hash=item380007247320&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318

BTW, I have all three of those brochures in my collection :)

thanks, I think som too, can you imagine how much I payed for it?

3500 NOK, thats about 350£ or 700$

well, I have not quite given it up yet:)
someone cut the cable inside the door, so that is ""only to attach that, and then hopefully that warning light will go out.:)
the break fluid warning light, there I have the wrong kind of sensor, but it works.
the dipstick is damaged(n)
and the light controll lamp I haven't done anything with yet:)

I wished i had a car for spares. My car doesn't have a tachometer, wonder if they fit straight in  I assume the 2 dr and 5 dr had different door handles?

If you can find a mk1 70SX instrument pod then yes, it will fit straight in place of your old instrument pod and you'll have a tacho as well. The tacho only needs one wire run to the coil to make it work too (y)

You can also fit the mk1 turbo instrument pod, though you'll end up with some non functioning gauges to do with the turbo engine (oil temp, oil pressure and boost gauge).

Ebay is your best bet as turbo instrument pods turn up every now and then. 70SX instrument pods are now getting very rare though. Here's what a 70SX instrument pod looks like in my 45S (note that the 'econometer' gauge is not a standard fitment to the 70SX - I fitted it in myself from my 45S dashboard (y))

I assume the 2 dr and 5 dr had different door handles?

Yes. The five door has door handles. The three door doesn't ;)

yep, sometimes it's good to have a spare car:D
I wonder, what do you think of the spoiler on the 45?
original Fiat styling(y)

and what do you need to fit the econometer to the car:confused:

Can the dials be split up? I want to replace the clock for a tacho and leave the rest as is.

The rear spoiler, well i like the top part, not so keen on the bottom part.

Shame the door handles don't interchange, mine stick out like a sore thumb :(

If I understand this right, the tacho, as you call it, is a mileage counter:confused:

well everyone can't like it, I think I'm going to put it on my car, just remove the white paint, and see how it looks then.

yep, a shame(n)

Here's a set of mk1 turbo clocks on Ebay. They're expensive so you might want to see if the auction ends with no bidders and with a bit of luck the seller may relist them cheaper. These will fit straight in place of your existing clocks though you'll need to add an extra wire to make the tacho work:
