General My MK1 Uno SX

Big time:(

and today the timing belt on my dad's croma broke, or it didn't brake, I guess you can say it split into 2 very small timing belts, and it seems that the compression is gone.

we are running out of cars:eek:

only one road going car, and it's a ford transit, 20 years old, diesel:mad:

but I think my Uno SX will be road legal soon:D
(the fire didn't cause that much damage(y))

Thanks Alex, I really need some good luck soon:)

I hope things are going better now. Just checked the cambelt on my 70s, with 225000km. The cambelt looks good, must have been changed at 160000km.

Thanks to Jai lending me his garage a couple of weeks ago, I got my 70SX's cambelt and alternator belt changed at 45K miles! Probably didn't need changing but as I don't know when it was last changed I wanted to be on the safe side (y)

well. things are moving slowly, as some of you may have noticed before, but now the summer has come to norway as well and it's a bit more pleasant to work outside again. So things have started to happen with my SX again, and hopefully in a month or two, it will have license plates on it again:D And I just can't wait:D

so, I said things have started to happen again, it's not much yet, but I have taken apart the interior and fixed some small issues, still not perfeck, but it works:p I'll porbably post some pictures as soon as I get a working camera:)

as for the restoration i've mentioned before I think it's probably going to happen when I get a place to work, and another car to drive around in:D
rigt now I'm driving a 19 year old Ford (of all tings:bang:) transit L diesel
and I'm so tired of it that I hope it catches on fire or something:devil:

as thing happen thruout (not sure thats the right way to spell that word but hope you understand) the summer I'll try to keep you updated with text and pics.

the new gearbox isn't to good btw, the diff is making very bad noises, so I think I'll have to open both of the and build one good one out of two bad ones:), but as long as it's working I'm happy for now(y)

My opinion about older cars, like our Uno is very simple.

Anyone can go out and buy a near new car.

BUT, only a few people have the patience to make an old car look like a new one. So I like to try to make an old car into a good one.

We will keep watching your car with interest. You do have long cold winters!.

I agree, and there is very much fun in making an old car like new:)

So I've found out that I'm going to restore my SX, as soon as I get another car to drive around in;)

yep, very hard to get anything done on a car if you don't have a heated garage (and I don't have that yet)

It nice to see another Uno saved, the mk1 Uno sx is pretty rare. But 3 doors Uno sx's seem none exsitant these days! good luck with your project. :D

3 door Uno SX's were only made up until around 1986, after which the SX model was only available as a 5 door. And yes they are rare! Only seen about three turn up on Ebay last year, one of which is now mine :D

So how common is my 84 1300 Uno S 5 door hatch ?

Rare as fook! At least in the UK anyway as the mk1 5 door 70S and SL models were superceeded by the 5 door SX around the same time the 3 door SX was dropped (approx. 1986).

The last 70S model I saw on UK roads was my friend's 1986 'C' reg example that got sent to the scappers in about 2001 and I haven't seen one on the road since :(

Thanks mate, and I promise it will get back on the road(y)

well, finally there is only about 350£ that the gouverment wants untill my SX gets it's lisence plates back :D it passed the controll with none faults :p

so on the first of july there will be lisence plates on the uno again:D

I'll post some pics when I get a camera thats working :bang:

 That's English pounds?

I imagine there won't be many Unos going back on the road when the re-license fee is higher than the value of the car ;)

-Alex

yep, it's English pounds, the re-license fee is about 150 £, and then theres an annual fee (I'm only paying half of it, since i not going to register the car untill 1. og july) but it's still 180 £ and then there's about 50 £ for a couple of plastic license plates:bang:
and if you diliver a cra to the scrapyard, you only get 150 £ for it there:bang:

in germany for example, you get 3000 £

Hi, sorry for the missing updates, but , well I dont really know where the time goes :D

well, anyway, the uno is doing great, exept some drunk girl praktically destroyed my third gear. Don't ask how, don't have a good explanation to it really.
oh, and another thing, I got hold on 4 original SX alu rims, for free, different from the ones on the pictures, still got those too of course:D

A little update now:D

And now I need a new gearbox, because the third gear insident caused a chain reaction whitch completely destroyd my gearbox:(

but a new one is right around the corner:D

Sorry to hear that your gearbox went Sorum, but good that you've managed to find a replacement. How easy was it to find one in Norway? Over here the Strada based gearboxes (bottom change) for Unos are very, very hard to find now as they were no longer used after the introduction of the mk2 Uno.

Hope you get yours back on the road sooon, the SX Unos are nice cars. That's why I have two of them :D Also, please do post up pictures of your Uno and and repairs. It's always good to have visual information (y)
