. Then new bulbs, maybe 100/90s. If I do that perhaps I will only put relays on high and leave low alone as 90 is pretty high for dip, but they do work well. But on 2nd thoughts the higher amperage may not be any good for the switch and fuses.

Exactly. I think you DO need the relays for dipped beam, and 90W is a lot more than 55W. With the increased current draw, the voltage drop will increase - Ohm's law.

Especially as most driving is done on dipped beams - though maybe that's different in the South Island :p

For low beam maybe a dim resister would do the trick!!

Umm, not a good idea
Dipped beam is so called because the beam pattern is cut off at the top, not because it's 'dimmer' than full beam. The cutoff is achieved by the riffles in the lens, due to the different position of the low-beam filament in the bulb. I think riffles is the correct and official term, but it could be 'ripples'! ;)

yes alex right - what I was thinking about a resistor for was that it would dim the dipped 90's and make them easier for oncoming traffic and still leave the 100s on full lighting up the night sky!

Driving on Dip in the South Island, I don't think so, not with only me Johnny and Steve on the road. No traffic down here you see! traffic jams at 4.45 in Invercargill regularly once every 2 months!

Hello,

I saw that you know everything about relays.

Last week i realized that my left window/drivers side (barchetta) it's moving strange. When i push the vbutton to open/close it i hear a tickink in the relay which is simultaneous with the movement of the window. moves 2cm than stops and then moves again with 2cm... and all this time i hear the ticking. What could be? When the window it's closed the ticking it's still there so it's not the window lifter blocked or something. Could be the button? Could be a fuse?

The right window works perfect.

Thanks

Not everything

Sadly you've come to the wrong section of the forum - I know nothing about the Barchetta. :( It sounds to me like you already have relays and there is an overcurrent (overload) protection system that is tripping. I would start by taking the door panel off and spray window tracks and cable guides with silicone spray - lubricate the motor and gearbox with spray lithium grease. I don't know what type of window mechanism those cars are, so this is only a general guide. I see you already have a thread in the Barchetta section, so best of luck (y)

Hi beam relays fitted, so now I will be able to see. Still got normal 60/55 watt halogen bulbs. Not sure about the 100/90s I know they are good though. Used them once, on small headlights, 4", it burnt all the black off and made the reflectors go black, so out they came. They need space to keep cool, like in the Uno headlights.

Thanks alexGS, you got me thinking and got me started, now all ready for my trip to Christchurch, proper gearshift and proper Hi beam lights. First time in 10 years!
