| is it possible to convert a base version to a turbo one? Hi all, my name is victor, living in africa, i'm a mechanical engineer, i have a base uno version 999cc; and i was wondering if it's possible to convert a base version into a turbo one. taking into consideration that the turbo engine is available, the main wiring and other stuff.. Can anyone suggest? thanks

If you have access to a complete Uno Turbo you can swap all the parts over into your shell. Welcome to the forum by the way!

| Re: is it possible to convert a base version to a turbo one? Thank you for your prompt reply '1986Uno45S' i'll check if all the parts are already available, but if it's a five door Uno base version 1994 , 999cc, i think it won't work to convert, would it? is there any differences in dimensions or in aerodynamics? thank you again, i am really glad to join this forum

That includes bumpers, arch extensions and skirts but not the rubbing strips (you can use the 5 door versions instead). A 5 door Uno has the same shell as a 3 door except with two extra doors. Everything mechanical from the turbo and also the interior will fit except for the door panels and headlining. A 5 door UT would be a cool and unusual car

| Re: is it possible to convert a base version to a turbo one? Why not just use the hole car? it depends on your reason for wanting to do this, if you have 2 cars, one with a good shell, but only the 1000cc, and a turbo with a damaged/rotten shell i`d strip both down to componants, and swap the best parts (ehgine, brakes, gearbox etc, and build up a good car from the pair... but MAKE SURE if you increase the power, you increase the handling and braking! (or you will have lots of spare parts....) if you have a uno thats running fine, its going to be a lot easier (and more worthwhile) just to look for a good uno turbo.
