Scrap Yards

Does any body know of scrap yards in or near manchester that will buy scrap cars or take them away for free????
I have stripped the uno of interior front bumper and body kit and need to get rid of the shell and engine/ gearbox etc...

Do i find a scrappy to take it for free/ give me a few quid for it maybe or put it on ebay with a start of 99p???????

Cheers Josh

Re: Scrap Yards

speak to your local council, if they anything like the london ones, they will do the job for free, here they require the v5, a letter of authority, the keys and the location of the car. 3-4 days, and it's gone!

Re: Scrap Yards

Many car scrap yards/ scrap metal merchants will pick up a shell and pay you a few quid for it. Look through the Yellow Pages or even in the back of the local rag as they often advertise

Re: Scrap Yards

Josh mate

Don’t let the engine go to the scrappu!!

Things like the ECU are getting rare for the 1.4 nat asp Remove as much as you can my lad! sensors distributor switch colum glass..People will pay good money for little parts if you give them a chance!! infact I need a windscrene before my next MOT

At least sort out Ant with the 3 speed front wiper motor for pointing you in the right direction .

Alternatively, what have you removed? Will the car still run? its not at your Mum's house?

Ant, I might have a mk2 70SX wiper motor available to swap for a mk1 unit. Is your mk1 motor a three speed (intermittent, slow, frantic ()) or two speed (intermittent and frantic)?

Re: Scrap Yards

Glad you sold the car as a whole.

Chas,

The 2-speed motor is intermittently frantic and constantly frantic.

The 3-speed motor is slow when intermittent .

Really there is no 2 speed motor as I’d say Off is another speed :P
