Well as those of you who are on turbocollective will know i bought a top secret project a few months back which i have just managed to finish! Here she is the day i bought her

observe the rust coloured door

soon filled in using upol and cardboard :D

Thought it would benefit from being stripped a little. Had an old turbo steering wheel kickin about so chucked that on too

i took these photos an hour apart n my mate hadnt moved!

The grey turbo is next on the list, gonna feel a bit guilty about molestering it as it is literally RUSTLESS, completely standard (no DV or anything) and has 13,000 miles on the engine!

nice bit of home diy dom! dont forget to spray some waxoil or shulz (like spray tar) behind you rust repairs and they'l last a long time, as its the condensation inside the panels, and it enters behind the repair soaks into it and thats why they start to bubble, cars rust inside out!!! everone thinks it goes through the paint, but more is happening behind the scenes! i to am liking the little feller not your mate who looks like a grafter, i have mates the same, they come round to help and just give moral support! is the lambo a diesel dumper? Ant!

She is a log burner yes! I have no doubt whatsoever that she will be a 1.4 turbo by this time next year! Just gonna get a years worth of econimical travel out of her before i do it! H5PYR its ford imperial blue, same as on fiesta zetec-s's

Great stuff Dom! :D

Love the painting effort - top marks there, newspaper masking, spraying semi-inside, probably should have a mask on y'know, been there done that except I always wear a mask ;)

Cardboard and U-pol... hmmmm... might last quite well provided you cut/ground out all the rust... and as Ants says, you need to treat the inside of the door, which I expect you have.

Nothing looks wrong with that grey turbo, so I think you should leave it alone. The white one has definitely benefitted from your skills! I think even my friend jjhepburn would agree that it looks a lot better now in blue than when you started.

Good work dom mate!

Where **** did you find a 13,000 mile UT???

Did i hear 2.0 integrale engine Van....

Cheers guys, yeah the van probably will end up getting converted but not till at least autumn next year! All i fancy doin to the grey one is lowering it on the punto rims, got some seats n harnesses sorted, nice zorst, colour coding the bumpers etc n doin the odd engine mod like FSE, DV and the brakes too. Im just strugglin to find the performance parts to be honest, sorted with springs but cant find an exhaust or even a proper sized t-piece to get my dv fitted. Every performance part i get from this day forth is getting kept! Ive sold that many performance uno bits in my time n now i cant find em for love nor money!!

Oh n its only the engine thats done 13k, the shells done 81 so still not bad. Clean as underneath, just had two new sills, good job too but the nonces have put the sideskirts on back to front

I got my dump valve t piece from ebay dom, £44 i think from one of the popular dump valve sellers, nice looking standard ut i wouldnt mess to much with that, nice as it is, and dont forget to squeeze some wax oil or even old engine oil and they'l stay on the car longer, infact the whole car! and that means everyone, before the grim damp weather comes, i did a sill on an old mini once which had 3 oversills attached ha ha, and all rusty as fook! because no preventative rust treatment applied, does anyone know if the diesel pistons can be used in the ut lump to lower the compression just a thought? as im sure they are lower comp, maybe a cheap mod! Ant!

Ummm... ?!
Diesel engines usually have a compression ratio around 20:1, and turbocharged engines around 7:1, so you've lost me there ;)

Uno Turbo Mk1 has the 'odd' bore size of 80.5mm. I think the Mk2 is the more standard 86.4mm size. If you could find any 0.5mm oversize pistons for the 1116cc engines (e.g. old Uno 55, FIAT 128) then perhaps they would provide a compression increase, but I'm not certain of this.

Thanks,
-Alex

I think i was just guessing? i just thought diesels ran a lower compression, and may be able use the pistons in the ut to lower the comp and run more boost prob wrong just a thought! Ant!
