Palio 16V head on UT MkII

Hey people,

So, I have had many thoughts and ideas and discussions and evrything.

I have built MANY turbo cars as well as NA cars, but I have recently been told that I can fit a 16V Palio head on a Uno Turbo Sub, is this true? I do not have a head anywhere to try this so before I do, thought I'd ask around ad see if I could find any answers.. Would appreciate it alot!

hmm, ok well, if that's true I would need to find out a little more, perhaps I should just purchase one and have a look at how much I can do to make it fit. If you have any info on this it would be great! Thanks alot so far

The head does not fit by a long way. Anythign is possible with enough time and money though.

I dont know why people are hung up on the possibility of a head swap. It makes a whole lot more sence to just turbocharge the 16v 1600 engine.

That's right. I know of a guy in SA that did this. His car was featured in a mag here with all the specs.

Re: Palio 16V head on UT MkII

he told me the oil galleries are different, and can't remember what else, the best way would be to get yourself a 1600 16v headgasket and hold it on top of the 1400 block, then u'll see if it's going to bo lots of work or not.

why not just slap in the complete 16v 1600 engine, fits on the gearbox etc.

Well, if I fit a 1600 engine then technically it is not a Uno turbo anymore.. thing is, I want to proof once again that I can smoke RS4's with a 1400 fiat..

@ Chanti, could you get some more info from this guy in SA? I will get me a Head gasket so long to see how it fits..

Later Dudes!!

If you put the palio gasket on the uno block it will not fit, but like I said, it has been done.

Will get you the details of the guy that did the modification.

he told me it costs about R50000 sa rands to do the mod.
why not just keep it 8v, ur gonna have less headaches, and no one is going to beleive u that it's a 1400 once u've got the 16v head on.
