Alright mate

You lot must have some tuners in portugal for stuff like that?
Turbos?
intercoolers?
Injectors
oil coolers?
etc
etc

Is it a MK2 1372cc engine?
You can run the standard turbo at 1.0BAR of pressure safely but dont go beyond that!
I did it and i cracked the turbo exhaust housing! £80 (100 euros) for a new one!

Is you freind HELDER LOPES by any chance?

Re: Uno Turbo i.e. Racing - Engine Tuning ?

Well, I would like some more in depth info about what to do to this engine...
And no, my friend is not Helder Lopes...

About the engine, it's a Uno Turbo i.e. Racing, so it's the third model of Uno Turbo, I don't know really if it's 1.3 or 1.4...

If anyone has real mods that can be done to this engine to get more power off of it please explain them !

Thanks

How far does your freind want to go with the engine?
FULLY TUNED or bolt on bits?
or a bit in between?

and what is the engine used for?
Road?
Race?
Rally?

Re: Uno Turbo i.e. Racing - Engine Tuning ?

It's a day-by-day use car, mainly for open road use, highway, city...
I think 150 to 200hp would get him pretty excited !

Cheers

Re: Uno Turbo i.e. Racing - Engine Tuning ?

With a Uno engine, they make more/near enough TORQUE(Way more important!) as BHP.

He could:

Get a larger but not to large turbo - Garrett T3 (1.0BAR of boost can be done on a UT)

Get an extra injector(s) - Place it in the inlet flow of air (Very important or youll pink all over the place not good!)

A piggy back injector controller or you can run one off the OVERBOOST switch

Bigger intercooler - Sierra Cosworth, Lancia delta integrale, universal one, etc.

Do you have any TUNING companys near to where you live?
You should consult them before do anything to it or you might have serious problems!

Re: Uno Turbo i.e. Racing - Engine Tuning ?

Ok besides intercooler, which in my oppinion and from what I've seen from Punto GT's only helps to keep the top power for more time, but doesn't give hp, I don't think he will go with a bigger turbo also, so what can he do with the original one ?

Is there any way of changing the original pressure the turbo is doing and will he benefit from it ? Also any way to put more fuel in the mixture ? (and will he benefit from it also ?)

Thanks for participating !

Re: Uno Turbo i.e. Racing - Engine Tuning ?

You could use a electronic boost controller (HKS, APEXI, etc) to limit the turbo boost but youll only reduce the turbos life but if he dont wana put some money into it then dont bother
You cant be cheap if you want a quick car to go much quicke!

Nobody said hes cheap, he is a guy that wants all that is best and doesn't look at the money he spends, or else he wouldn't have just wasted almost €5000 in the last two months on a new engine for a car who is like 13years old, besides the money he has spent in other times, like when he put the Koni Sport and Sparco suspension...

Maybe there are things he will not do, but mostly due to the lack of good tuning company's here where we live, that have experience with turbos and Fiat Uno's also...

Cheers

Re: Uno Turbo i.e. Racing - Engine Tuning ?

well upping the boost on a fairly std engine in a decent nick .. to about 1bar should see you around 130-150hp

the t2 doesnt like anything more then that , but with abit more fueling 1.2bar can be run for abit .. but the turbo wont really last that long ..

it wouldnt really boost anything more then 1.4bar ..

Re: Uno Turbo i.e. Racing - Engine Tuning ?

well , between your actuator and turbo theres a little rubbter tube ,

cut that tube in 2 , fit a Tpiece connector in between them , add another tube on the other end with either a Tap/bleed valve , now u just need to play with the boost ..

be carefull dont break anything ..
