Uno Turbo MK1 Engine in a MK2

How easy or difficult would it be to drop in a turbo mk1 engine into a mk2 shell? Or would it even be a problem? I dont know how much difference it would make (despite the fact that I've had both a MK1 and a MK2.) I love the uno I have, but might be looking for something bigger in the future, so I was thinking about the possibility of a re-shell. Plus, decent looking uno turbos are expensive although most that I have seen are sound engine wise. Cheers guys.

Re: Uno Turbo MK1 Engine in a MK2

SteveNZ has done it. He used a combination of Mk1 block and Mk2 intake system (and turbo), but I am sure that a complete Mk1 setup will fit absolutely fine. The differences between the Mk1 and Mk2 bodyshells are cosmetic details - or at least, they don't affect the mounting of the engine. There are some mechanical differences, like the clutch (usually hydraulic, but the holes will probably accept the cable set-up) and the fuel pipes (they run under the car for the Mk2, if I remember correctly. You'll need to change all these anyway I suspect!)

You'll also need the gearchange lever and linkages, and don't forget all the other Turbo details - driveshafts, brakes, steering rack, etc... it's a big project, but all bolt-on stuff.

Re: Uno Turbo MK1 Engine in a MK2

Do you want to fit a mk1 turbo engine to a mk2 turbo or do you want to reshell a mk1 turbo into a mk2 shell?

Fit a MK1 turbo into a MK2 Shell. Just an Idea.
