Steering wheel revamp / replacement

I'm looking into fixing / replacing my steering wheel. Fixing?! mmm yeah, might sound odd.
Thing is, I'm lucky enough to have a MOMO steering wheel on my Uno, but the leather is really getting, well, brittle (if I could call it that). It tends to brush off and simply doesn't look good. So I got 2 questions: 1 ) for any fellow South Africans (or anyone else for that matter) - do you know of any place doing the leathers on steering wheels? (thats if it can be done) and 2) if it can't be sorted out, anything specific that I need to take into account when getting a new steering wheel. AFAIK they just bolt on. any suggestions are welcome tho... etc and so.

thanks in advance

Re: Steering wheel revamp / replacement

You can get the steering wheel re-covered in leather by coach trimmers. No idea how much it cost, but Jai got his Uno turbo wheel re-covered for a very cheap price and it looks excellent. Only problem is he had it done over in India!

You can fit any Uno steering wheel to your car, such as the factory SX, turbo (mk1) and Momo (mk2). The Momo wheel needs a boss kit to make fit, but this came as standard with the mk2 turbo so make sure you grab that as well as the steering wheel.

There's a lot of aftermarket wheels around too, but as far as I know most of these will also need a boss kit.

One last thing. If your wheel is genuine leather, have you tried 'feeding' the leather with hide food? Leather will dry out if not maintained, and hide food can work wonders.

Hope this helps!
