| New UT door panel upholstry wonder if one of you could shed light on my problem. I want to take my UT Door panels and take off the standard upholstry and put on some black leather paneling, have one of you done this??. how the hell do i attach my new panel to my doorpanel, i figured that i can't use a glue gun as the car gets to hot inside and the glue would simply just melt and my paneling would fall off. any help please

| Re: New UT door panel upholstry When you take off the side panel, the upholstered panel should unclip and pull away. Then wrap this in leather and reattach.

| Re: New UT door panel upholstry I actually ended up making entirely new door cards. I got hold of some old door cards from a dead Uno and removed the fabric from them (easy just cut it away and pull) all three door Unos use the same card with different coverings as far as I can tell. Then I bought a sheet of hard board (about NZ$10 so rather cheap and was enough to make new door cards for my mini as well) and used the old door cards as a pattern (save the old turbo cards in case you ever want to go back). After cutting out the new board with a jigsaw and making all the correct holes I cut the fabric to shape and glued it onto the front and about an inch overlap on the back using contact adhesive and using triangular cuts on the corners so that it looked nice. I also used some thin foam that they use to make quilts, its white and fluffy, makes the card look nice and plush, not too much though or it will look American. Oh and some duct tape on the back for extra insurance. Once the glue has dried (follow the directions, contact adhesive is used differently to normal glue) you can cut the holes in the material and reattach the plastic clips and refit to the car, done. Hopefully the attachment below works, it shows my door card, the two colour effect was a bit of a mission, the yellow vinyl matches the outside colour of my car. All this was done on the cheap, I think the new door cards cost all up about NZ$25ish (about 8 pounds). Also make sure the plastic lining behind the door card stays on the door, it stops the door card getting wet and rotting.

| Re: New UT door panel upholstry Nice job, I like the colour too! I'll certainly be looking into doing this when I start my restoration project.
