15s on Unos

Hello,

I'm considering buying an Uno as a second car and maybe slapping a set of 15x7 Rota Rewind alloys on it for a sort of retro euro look. What do Unos actually look like on 15s?? Anyone got any pics? Also, how low can you go with them on?

Thanks

Re: 15s on Unos

15's do go on, but there is some issues with rubbing on the rear arches and sometimes on the gearbox with the steering on full lock. Also, do bear in mind that if you fit them to a 999cc Uno it may struggle with the increased rolling radius and lose top end and acceleration.

Jai has 15's on his UT, and I think DuncUnoTurbo had 16's on his. Here's a pic of Jai's UT with 15's on:

Re: 15s on Unos

Not too bothered about speed. Want it slow and low! Got the Alfa for going quick anyway. I want to go very low, so maybe 13s or 14s would be best.

I quite like the whole Veedub scene but I don't really want to own a german car so thought a Mk1 Uno would be the better Italian option!

Re: 15s on Unos

My 15s dont rub on the rear or g/box, you need the correct offset, some peeps cut corners and use wheels off other cars, just because they bolt on, fiat have a diff offset to anything else as i found out when buying new rims for the misses, Ant!

Re: 15s on Unos

this is my mk 2 on alfa 15"s i needed 20mm spacers on the back and 15mm on the front and the backs still rub, gonna have the rear arches rolled and flared soon. the do rub on gearbox but 20mm spacers all round should solve this. when bodywork is sorted im gonna take stripe and stickers off and get the wheels refurbed in gunmetal.

If you want to slam it lower than a snakes belly ala the Euro look then keep away from big rims. The smaller the better as the bigger diameter of 15's or 16's will still make the car ride high even if you slam it to the max. This is because the radius from the hub to the lower end of the wheel/ tyre of a big wheel will always be bigger than that of a smaller wheel. Therefore even if you lower by 60mm on big wheels you may find that increased radius of the wheels will make the sills of you car sit the same height off the ground as standard. Your bigger wheels may fill the arches better, but your sills will look like they belong to a 4x4 being so high off the ground.

Here's a good example of a Euro look mk2 Uno, though I think he may have 14" wheels and also a Euro look mk1 Golf.

Stick with old school 13's, preferably dished

Re: 15s on Unos

Right, 15s are crossed off the list. Got to be 13s I think, that black Mk2 is the look I'm after Now I've just got to find a suitable car...

Re: 15s on Unos

Heres mine on 13x8 ET-10 wheels with 165/65 tyres. You can go to 15s. I'm gonna get some Alfa Teledials for mine too, and fit 165/45 tyres. They're 16mm shorter than the 165/65 13.

Its not low enough yet needs to go down another 2" at least.

Matt

Isn't that illegal, the rims are sticking out of the arches?

Isn't it illegal that 165/65s are on 8J wheels?!

You should have something like 205/30s. look how much the tyres are stretched!

Re: 15s on Unos

Stretched tyres aren't illegal, dangerous or any of the other ****** people come out with. The law states that when viewed from above 3/4 of the TREAD should be covered. No mention of the wheel or sidewalls lol.

But to pass an MOT the rims can't stick out of the arches, are you modding your arches or leaving them as they are?

Re: 15s on Unos

Yes they can theres nothing in the MOT about wheel arch coverage. Could pass the MOT with no coverage (my hotrod did) but its the Construction & Use regs the police use that states the 3/4 tread rule.
