wheel width

i have a Uno 60S and i'm thinking of changing the wheels. i know that the sizes that fit are 15s on 195/45 and 14s on 185/50 or 55, but what about the width of the rim? 'cause there are a lot of sizes, like 5.5" , 6.0" , 7.0"... which one works?

Re: wheel width

on the 15" rim, with a 195/45 tyre, you want a 6.5 inch width wheel, which will slightly rub on the gearbox on full right lock

I've got 165/65 x 13 tyres fitted to 13" x 5" X1/9 alloy rims and they fit no problem

Re: wheel width

dont forget they will be closer or rub on the rear subframe if you have drums on the rear, so may need spacers

Re: wheel width

well i bypassed the rear subframe problem
Its easy, just cut a section out of the subframe, then weld in back in back to front so instead of it sticking out due it being circular, u get a concave curve in which doesnt rub

Aha, the old hot rodding trick! Used many times when fitting V8 engines into small engine bays - cut out sections of the chassis rails and weld in concave sections to give more room for things like exhaust manifolds and alternators
