I have just bought a 2004 2.2 Prestigio for £6400. Unfortunately the Connect NAV+ head unit will not read CDs or SIM card - so no sat nav or hands free. Any advice as to where I can get the unit serviced - apparently a replacement refurbished head unit is about £900!

Hey £900 is a bargin the new price was £3K I believe.
If it had been one or the otehr fault it may have been worth digging around inside for the fault but both points to something more significant.
I'd bite the bullet.

Thanks Pat - the car's going in for servicing on Monday and I've asked their technician to take a look. I've also been told by a local car audio specialist to just try cleaning the CD laser and see if something as simple as that solves the problem. Fortunately I can do without both functions, but it would be nice if they worked!

Definately worth a clean to see if that helps. Also a puff with some canned compressed air. Alos look in the slot to make sure no paper or stuff in there.
What does the disk do after you insert it?

The disc spins for a minute and their is a slight clicking noise. Tried a lense cleaner today but it needs to be 'played' on track 2, and as disc is not recognised it won't work. Will try other suggestions over the weekend.
Thanks

It does not sound as CD lens problem because you said that the SIM won't read either (unless you are fortunate enough to have 2 problems together).

The first thing to do with CONNECT NAV is pressing the DARK button for 10 seconds, to soft-reset it.
If this would not help then disconnect the (-) of your battery (located under driver's feet) for 30 seconds and then reconnect it. This may hard-reset the unit.
If both don't help then try looking for other problems.

Thanks - I'll try this later. I presume there'll be no problem with security codes for the radio as I've not seen anything about them.

Sounds like a possible software glitch. Probably a good start would be to check the software version and try burning a disk with an update. To check the software version I think from memory you hold in the main button or the menu button for a few seconds to get you into a hidden menu. You can then check the version and see if it is possible to get a newer version. Then take a look at www.eurovan2.com and download the software and burn a CD. When you put this in the car you need to have the engine running and any sim cards removed. The CD (if it works) will start to download and you will see an egg timer on the screen, do not remove the CD until it has completely finished. It may even eject and then reload the CD during the download.

The problem with removing the battery is that it won't reset the unit as it has a battery back up built in. You would need to remove this internally.

Hope this helps.

Tried the two methods of resetting the head unit but neither worked. Will try updating the software, but the head unit will not even read ordinary music CD's so I'm not optimistic - but thanks to everyone for their suggestions.:)

Tried everything now - unit won't even try to read the software update CD. Spoke to previous owner who said that the Sat Nav had been working but would occasionally stop but he just re-inserted the disc and it started again. But even this isn't working. Any other suggestions out there?
Thanks to everyone who's given the time to respond.(y)

Sorted the SIM card problem - it doesn't recognise the '3' network but works fine with O2. Now just need to sort out the Sat Nav. Does anyone have a configuration (or start up) disc they could copy for me?
Thanks(y)

I probably have the original one plus the latest update to 5.5 I think somewhere.
Where in the UK are you based?

£6400 is a great price for a 2004 Prestigio :) I paid £6000 for a '53 ex-Addison Lee car which although badged as an Eleganza, everyone knows they are really a Dynamic with Elec. Sliding Doors. A word of advice - If you have a manual transmission, budget for a replacement Clutch. When it goes it's expensive

Just had the car serviced and thankfully no issues with it. However the FAP levels need topping up and I don't know yet how much this will cost!

:bang: Have now been told by Fiat Customer Relations that there is no-one they know of who can repair the RT3 head units!!!!! The only solution is to replace the whole unit££££££. SO BEWARE IF YOUR UNIT FAILS.
