Posting here as there doesn't seem to be a Ulysse forum.

Just got a 53 plate Ulysse Eleganza. V. comfortable and lots of toys.
Missing a manual and CD for the Sat Nav though, and looking for some advice on how to sort that, and whether it's worth it (never had sat nav before). Had a quick scout through the FAQ, but didn't see any answers.

Hope someone knows answers to this lot. Any thoughts appreciated!

- Is the Ulysse unit identical to another (still manufactured) model's?
- Where can I download a manual? Or is FIAT UK backward and insist I phone someone, or worse, visit a dealer?
- New Sat Nav CDs seem to be ~£100. Is it worth the money? I do about 4 long distance journeys a year, mostly to places I know well, so is it worth having?
- Do you really have to put the CD into the CD slot for the whole time you are using the sat nav?
- Can you use the Nav without registering for Connect?
- Is Connect a fee-paying service, or free?

And loads more questions besides, but some thoughts on the above would help a lot!

Hi,

Welcome, this is the correct place to post for the Ulysse.

I presume you mean the Peugeot 807\Citroen C8? The Ulysse is identical apart from the body trim. Dealers keep telling me there are some mechanical differences but I'm not sure there are.

The manual is pretty useless and i'm not sure whether it is available electronically. Maybe someone else can help here?

I did not think I would ever use the sat nav not having ever used one before but I have found it handy. Whether it's worth £100.00 pounds is another matter. You can sometimes find them for sale on Ebay.

You do have to leave the CD in for the system to work.

You don't have to register for Connect to use the sat nav.

It is payable afyer the 1st year, this though I think was only on new cars. You could try contacting connect to see if they would give you a freebie.

Thanks Lou, that's helpful!

Actually I was hoping the Connect Nav was identical to another Fiat vehicle, so that there's some chance of my local FIAT dealer understanding it and having spares (of both the manuals and the CDs). If the manual is as bad as you suggest, maybe I won't bother!

It looks to be different from the C8/807 set-up. I think they have 15cm colour screens instead (Equivalent to Nav+ ?), whereas mine just uses the standard monochrome matrix display.

FIAT UK have told me they can't help with manuals, so I guess it's a call to the dealers next to see if they are more clued up. I'm not holding my breath...

The SatNav disk is from Navtec, not FIAT. See next thread, actually. It's the same one for the Connect+ as for Connect (I believe the head unit (RT3) is the same in both cases, only the screen differs. The RT3 unit is still inside satnav equipped C8s and 807s. There's also a config disk for the unit, which is FIAT-specific, but you shouldn't need that for the sat nav.

You do have to keep the nav disk in to use the sat nav. Hence the reason manufacturers recommend the CD multiplayer - but ipod + radio interface is probably a better solution to the problem.

The Connect service was free for a year with a new car, thereafter there was a charge. It was a bit of a hassle to set it up initially, I recall. I never had a need to use the service, and FIAT didn't even bother asking me to renew. Basically you could sent your GPS coordinates to a call-centre in Italy, and they could help you with things like accommodation or sending you route information like points of interest as you drove. Never learned any of this from FIAT. You don't need to pay for Connect to use sat nav.

I also have the little monochrome screen, I find the sat nav very useful - especially on a holiday to Ireland - although I think there's some problems with the disk I have - I quite often enter an address via the software's selection process, press "go" and get told "that name is not linked to an address". Don't remember it happening with the first disk I got with the car.

Hi, Ive got a Stilo Abarth with connect nav+ if its the same thing then the disc code is T1000-8140. I bought the discs of ebay, not cheap. Navteq want £105.
Hope this helps

Go to www.eurovan2.com. after you register you can go to the downloads section.
You'll find there is a manual to RT3 version 5.4 (what persumally you have), software upgrade to version 5.5 (carefully read the instructions there "how to update your RT3" if you choose to update) and a nanual for version 5.5.

Since the Lancia Phedra, Citroen C8 and Peu 807 are totaly identical to your car (there may be some differences in standard equipment options and some cosmetics) you may find the Peugeot 807 manual usefull as well.
