Ulysee Seatbelt issues

Hi, I'm totally brand new tonight so if this has been discussed already sorry for being slow. I have recently bought an 04 ulysse and we totally love the car but for one irritation that really is anoying and i would appreciate any tips or advice to overcome the problems. The seatbelt buckles are way down far between the seats and when putting in our children to their child seats or booster seats it is very difficult to clip the belt in and often leads to some choice words. I know there are bound to be alot of parents with the same problem as it is a family car and it dosent help when you have three young children to contend with espically when it is raining or you are in a hurry. I know this may seem like a minor gripe but in every day use it really is annoying and i want to know is there a way of making the buckles longer so they are easier got at before either my wife ir i go nuts and trash an otherwise excellent car that ticks all the right boxes everywhere else. By the way this is fiat number 4 for me i even had a 20v turbo coupe and NEVER a problem with one so why are fiats looked upon as rubbish?

We have up to 6 child seats in our car, and the seats are constantly being swapped around, and I have never had any qualms with the buckles.

Re: Ulysee Seatbelt issues

My fiancee and I have just bought an 05 Ulysee and have commented on the same problem. We have a 4 month old which isn't too bad at the moment as the base stays in all the time and we just clip the car seat in, but my fiancee's 5 year old and her 'booster seat' has caused a few choice words in the last week!! We have found the only easy seat to put her in is the middle as there is more room where the buckle goes and your not having to lean across her to put it in!! but not much use if your having to put 3 car/booster seats in the middle row!! Would also appreciate any idea's as fiancee is mumbling about wanting another child!!!

Re: Ulysee Seatbelt issues

Believe me you will go nuts if you have more kids to contend with, it is a real hassle. I can't understand why they don't give these cars to typical families in early production so they can find these issues because i reckon at least 90% of Ulysse owners have young kids and i think this is a real simple but stupid design fault. Why do the buckles have to be stuck way down between the seats in the first place?. To me a car aimed at families with kids should be tested on families with kids and it would not have taken long to discover this problem.

Well, this Fiat is 100% Peugeot...
I also have this irritating problem and had done nothing.
Maybe you can make "extention buckles" from Peugeot seatbelts, in which a male and female buckles connected by a short strap will be inserted to the original female buckle to make a new "higher" female buckle.

Nothing wrong with that - means you can locate the standard seats [ignore the middle one, that only goes in the middle] across 4 locations - and there will always be a seat belt point for it, depending whether it is on the left or right of the car.

Re: Ulysee Seatbelt issues

With the seat popped and folderd right foward. So the headrest is on the carpet (you may need to slide seats backwards of forwards to get them to fold like that) you reach for the bar running across the seat near the carpet from behind the seat and squeeze the black thin bar to it this releases the catches and the whole seat pops free. Take care they are "very" heavy.
