Who Should I write to?

OK I have had my car at the Fiat dealers and they tell me that I need a new fuse box.
They say that the fuse box has been getting wet for a very long time.
In the service managers words it looks like it has been put through a washing machine loads of times. He has said he will give me the fuse box to prove my case.
The car is 2 weeks out of the 3 year warranty and 4,000 miles over the limit.
I want to write and see if I can recover at least part of the cost of this repair (just over £200) from Fiat because it is obviously something that has been going to happen for a long time because of bad design/materials and the fact that it goes just after the warranty expires shouldn't mean that I have to pay the full cost.
So who should I write to? any useful names or addresses?

You can try but we had our crankshaft pully fall off and handbrake wear out just a week or two outside 3rd year warrenty and Fiat said no chance to anything towards the cost. So I wouldn't hold your breath.

Flinty...theres 2 ways of going about this but dont forget its out of warranty,

firstly...go bawling/shouting...this of course will get you nowhere!

secondly...explain the situation,offer to send the fusebox to them,and as you have been a loyal Fiat customer for many years now & are infact thinking of buying another new one next year & you would think it would be a nice gesture if they could contribute to the cost.Maybe even the part & you pay labour or visa-versa as this will reinforce your faith in Fiat.

well I have written and faxed with the normal being a nice person thing.
I've explained that the car has had all the services and all the relevant details.
Also explained that the car has gone faulty twice in two weeks since the warranty ran out.
So lets just see where we go.
On the plus side a I cantacted the place where I originally got the car from and they are sending £150 towards the repair costs. Now if Fiat will do something similar I will only be a little out of pocket.
We shall wait and see and I shall keep you informed.

Well I picked the car up Monday and today I received the letter from Fiat saying that they have no records of problems with fuseboxes on the Ulysse or any of the surrounding parts so I can go and whistle for ay money from them.

And guess what???

Yes that's right the car is playing up again. The 'engine anti pollution system faulty' has come back on.

So just a brief recap for you.. Fiat have the car for 3 days with engine anti pollution system faulty problem. - solution they fit new throttle potentiometer. cost £163

6 days after collecting car it breaks down. Now also says airbags faulty.

Fiat have car for 3 days. -solution fit new fuse box. cost £163

4 days after collecting car engine anti pollution system faulty comes back on.



I shall be phoning the dealer tomorrow morning.
Why do I know they are going to tell me it's something else this time? Anyone want to bet how much the bill will be?

Did you send them the fusebox? I personally have never heard of water in fusebox problems on ulysee (or its peugeot/citroen versions) except yours of course.

I dont know why a TPS was fitted...cant see the logic behind that

Has dealer tried forced regeneration of the PDF?

I have the 2.0 JTD manual Eleganza so apparently it doesn't have the fluid that is used on the cat. That's only on the 2.2 versions.

I think it was down to the drain hose from the window being partially off for a long time and no one noticing.

We shall wait and see.

I hope this doesn't turn into a version of my brothers Volvo which has been into the main dealers for faulty aircon 5 times and they have fitted 5 different parts at a cost of nearly £1000 and still not sorted the problem properly.

FAP system then,still need regeneration by normal or forced methods.

well I did 160 motorway miles and that hasn't sorted it.
So what's the likely cost and what is FAP?? apart from Fiat anoying problems!!
