Every so often, but always when cold I get a slight judder when taking up drive (manual 2004 2.0 JTD) once warmed slightly it goes away never to return until the following morning (cold again). Didn't do this when we bought it but it is rather hilly round my way and the first thing I have to do is a fairly steep hill start every morning. Any ideas out there, anyone else got/had a judder on a ulysse.

I actually had this exact same thing on a Rover 75 diesel.
The thinking was that it was dust or something that settled on the clutch plate while it was standing overnight. I just gave the car a few more revs first thing in the morning, or let the clutch out slightly slower when moving off in the morning until the engine was warm and it never caused a problem.:D

There are 2 issues:
1) All Diesel engine make more noise when cold.
2) Below 10 degrees Celcius there is a special fuel-burning heater that accelerates the heating. when it works there's a high pitch whistle and if you turn the engine off when its still cold it may keep working for a minute and you may hear the noise coming from under the car.
