It is falling apart

Hi,

My car had a faulty auto box problem and I was just getting in the car to go to the garage and the engine light came on with a warning display "enviromental pollution error" or something like that.

It is in the garage now but will I ever see it again !!!!!!!.

Hi,

Apparently I need a new main body computer, not a good thing really. Hopefully everything will work afterwards as all the accessories have to be programmed in.

How the hell did you manage to break that????

Will you get a dual-band tuner for the afore mentioned TMC [not quite RIP, but looking that way?], or is the body computer a totally separate item?

Good job you did the 5.4 upgrade yourself! Better keep quiet just in case.

Hi,

Funnily enough I did ask the mechanic whether the software in the RT3 unit affected the body computer and he said absolutely not. I then told him it had recently been updated by "somebody else" and he said all they do is pop a CD in and if it pops out straight away it is either already updated or is the wrong software. They do that every time the car goes in for any service issues.

Not sure what I did to break it, but the fault warnings are quite impressive, I have seen lot's of them.

Anyway it seems to be working fine now after just being reset, but I should get a new computer in the next few days. The body computer is seperate and is under the bonnet I think. The lower models don't have RT3, but do have the body computer.

I'll let you know what happens.

Perhaps all the previous fault messages have overloaded the storage of the on-board computer (the same fault that has hit the Spirit Mars robot) - from the BBC's news site....

"The US space agency's Dr Trosper said the team was now making good progress, and explained the eventual fix could involve the deletion of a great many unnecessary files currently sitting in the memory. "

Hi,

It's come back to life now, although now and again it does come up with the odd auto gearbox warning. Still it drove well last night in the snow.

I have heard that disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting it causes the main body computer to reset it self. Maybe if the power was interrupted it could have caused this software fault. Didn’t you disconnect it when your car started beeping a couple of days ago lol.
