HELP!!!!

Help does anyone know what this is. When I started my car today it started giving a loud constant beeping noise it even carries on when I stop the engine the only way to stop it is to remove the key from the ignition. There is no warning message and all the doors are closed, after five minutes of driving the beeping was driving me mad. Any help please as you know how long the dealers take.

Hi,

Have you checked the alarm log in the main on board computer menu.

It does sound like the seatbelt alarm. We had it when we had something heavy on the front passenger seat, which upset the sensor.

Thanks poggy that seems to have fixed it, I had two warnings in the alarm log one was for seatbelt not fastened and the other was for handbrake left on if only they put this in the manual it would solve all the complaints to the dealer when you think something has gone wrong when like this it is a simple fix, saved me a good few hours wait tomorrow at the dealership .Also Poggy do you know how to delete the logs had a go but seemed no way of doing it. Cheers again for the help without this forum I would have spent many an hour on the phone to fiat :D

Hi,

Glad it's sorted, the alarm log is reset everytime you switch off the car and it starts all over again when you start the car.

The manual could quite honestly be recycled into toliet paper as it would be more use.

Bet you were worried about the 5.4 software for a minute !!!!.

yep was dreading the dealer saying that i had messed up the system by loading the 5.4 software but was more worried what the wife would say, so glad it was just the alarm log.

My wife had something similar happen shortly after I first got the car - she borrowed it for a shopping trip and put her handbag on the passenger seat. It set off the seatbelt alarm! I'd always told her she carried too much stuff in her handbag, and now the car has given me the proof - THANK YOU FIAT! :D

I've also noticed that because of the placement of the handbreak, it's all too easy to not disengage it properly, especially if you have fat hands and stuff in the door pocket - I've had that warning fire on me a couple of times!

Hi,

Mine has now started to do the same thing, it just bleeps all the time. As soon as you put the key in it starts bleeping even before you start the engine. It is coming through the loudspeakers.

I can't see anything in the log to cause it. How did you stop yours from doing it.

Hi,

I tried everything, disconnecting battery etc. I am about to try again now that it has been left overnight.

If that doesn't work I am off to dealer.

Hey mine did that beeping yesterday. I'm on version 5.4. There was nothing in the log and no error messages. I switched off and on again and it was still there. It would have driven me mad, but I left the car, went back later and it didnt do it. Been OK since, but we should keep and eye (ear) open for it. Might need a 5.4.1!

Hi,

It did happen again last week and I drove straight into the dealer, they listened and couldn't figure out what it was. They went to plug the car into the diagnostic PC and when they went to move the car it stopped so they couldn't find anything.

It happened again this morning and I had to leave it for a few minutes before it stopped.
