Had all the usual stalling at slow speeds etc in January and did all the cleaning , revs up and down, kangarooed around Medway etc etc. Finally bought new valve , missed the bargain ones on ebay and forked out for new one ..75 squids from HNL Hull off internet. Also replaced vacuum pipes to injector array and to sensor high up under the scuttle .
Miracle all cured.........Last week car missed twice at 50 odd and then when I slowed down guess what - yep it cut out. After leaving for a while restarted and drove home no problem tickover rock solid,

I took the valve out and cleaned it but not much on it replaced the vacuum tubes as one ,although new , seemed a bit perished where it fitted over the spigot on the injector array and all worked fine until last friday .In the morning car missed at speed again and then stalled at next corner. It restarted again and remained stable at tickover. As soon as I carried on the problem returned.
After work got in car with great trepidation but all was perfect and has been since.

1/Is the vacuum tubing special in any way ? I just bought standard 5mm ignition advance stuff and cut to size. Is this the right stuff??

2/ Surely the valve cant have failed it is a new Magneti Morelli one.

3/Donald Mc- if you are there- you mentioned your garage replacing this sensor under the scuttle in an attempt to solve your problem.Do you know what this thing does? As the vacuum tube goes to it it could be a failure there would let air into the tube causing misfire and idle problems.

4/I can`t get the eper thing to work so I can`t check it out..has that been closed to us now?

Any ideas or theories most welcome.

Regards Andy

Love the car hate the uncertainty!!!!

Hi Capt T

It wont be of much use but they told me it was called a Map sensor which as far as I know is a pressure sensor.
Replacing it did not make a difference in my case but they said it registered as being faulty on the diagnostics machine.

Just looked at a parts disc and the part number is 46531222 and is called a switch?

Good luck!
