For some reason my cruise control is not working it says in the manual that when you get above 40 kph you turn the on switch and a orange light lights up on the dash and it is set to that speed but on mine, I have been up to 50 mph flicked the switch it lights up on the dash but when I take my foot off the gas it just slows down like it has not set, am I missing anything as it is driving me mad.
Cheers

i tot i was ze only one confused with it...yup, the manual's got it wrong (as far as i'm concerned).

how'd you set it then? well, what i do (and it actually works) is after you switch the system on (the orange display light merely indicates that it's on, it doesn't actually set the speed) i normally press the (+) button on the same stalk to set the speed (i think it'll still work if you used the (-)). the button at the end of the stalk is then useful to conveniently deactivate and reactivate it as you go along.

one other experience: the speed does drift a little more than what i'm used to. I mean if you set it to 120km/h (90mph) it'll probably drift within 115 - 125 k/hr (85 - 95mph). in my other sedan car (a mitsubishi eterna - don't think it's available over in UK though) it's much more stable, varying very little. the only explanation is perhaps the ulysse has greater bulk and the engine has a different power band reacting to varying road profile and conditions...that's what i think anyway

despite it all, i do enjoy the auto cruise function. it also keeps my lead footed driving behaviour (and speeding fines!) at bay...[8D]

happy driving, happy hols and cheers...[)]

First time I tried it I thought it worked like the manual said, second time only flicking the (+) button did the trick, I did not try the (-) button. Took me a lot of experimenting to find this out and I'm sure the people in the cars around me thought I was a learner driver with all the slowing down etc.

Hi,

I've just returned from a long trip and had a chance to try out the cruise control. As well as pressing the +/- buttons to get it to work I also found that holding down the button at the end of the stalk as you release the acclerator also selects the current driving speed. I think you have to hold the stalk button down a little longer than the +/- buttons, but it does seem to work.

Interesting find Dan. I'll be trying that tomorrow (planning to go on a 500+km trip). speed? i intend to keep to 110 km/h only though...conserve energy and money!

One great thing i found about the cruise control is, if you have to slow down or stop on the motorway say for a jam, you then start off again, when you reach 30mph you press the button on the end of the cruise control stick it will take you back to the last setting you had on it before you stopped say 70mph. It only works if you don't turn your cruise control off in between as that wipes it's memory.

... and on the 2.0 JTD (which lacks a bit of oomph but saves me money with the tax-man), use of the cruise control and the '+' button gets the speed up nicely without having to push the accelerator through the floor! :)
