Removing front grill

Hi

Can anyone advise how to remove front grill? I have a 1999 Ulysse with the slimmer dark grey tinted headlights which I need to change for a pair of LHD lights as I live in France. I have removed indicators and the bolt and white clip on each side. Have also removed Torx bolts from top of grill. However, grill still does not feel free. I think there are 2 more hidden fastenings at the bottom of the grill but I can't see them and don't know what type they may be. As the grill is plastic, I don't want to break it.

Many thanks

Sean

Maybe have a look on ePer to see if you can glean any more information:

Re: Removing front grill

Hi Stuart

Should have thought of that. Had a look and eventually found front grill in section entitled 'External Accessories'! It shows fasteners I couldn't see so I'll give it a go tomorrow. I've got full Fiat manual in hardback and CD and it reminded me of Haynes for removing grill. Along the lines of remove fasteners - reassembly is the reverse.

Seems I've been lucky with headlights, eper shows 288 euros each and I've sourced a used pair from Germany for 270 euros inc p & p.

Thanks for your input and time.

Regards

Sean

Re: Removing front grill

Hi Paul

Yes it is what I would describe as the facelift model with slimmer grey tint looking headlights. I'd love to know how to convert.

Thanks for your input.

Regards

Sean

Re: Removing front grill

You sure it is a Mk2? I thought you had a Mk1 EL.

Re: Removing front grill

Hi

It's a 1999 Ulysse with headlights as I described. I don't know if that makes it a Mk2 but, if it is, so be it.

Thanks

Re: Removing front grill

1999 Ulysse was a facelifted Mk1, not a Mk2. The grille, headlights and Fiat badge are slightly different to the earlier Mk1.

Re: Removing front grill

Hi

Thanks for that. That was my understanding, which is why I described it as a facelift model. I think it was an improvement.

Re: Removing front grill

On the model I have the lights have the lenses that make it look like it has Xenon bulbs in them. You can modify them to LHD rather than the €1000 or so replacement cost.

Sounds like yours is the model before.

Re: Removing front grill

Hi Paul

Sounds like it but thanks for the thought and the posts. I've managed to buy on ebay a second hand pair from Germany for half the price of a new pair from Fiat. Always risky, but they arrived without damage and are in excellent condition. Now all I have to do is get the plastic front grill off without breaking it!

Best wishes

Sean

Re: Removing front grill

Hi All

I still can't see how to remove the complete front grill from my facelift 1999 Ulysse so that I can change over to LHD headlights.

I have printed relevant page from the online parts catalogue and I have full manual. I have removed bolts and clips from indicator housings and the torx fasteners holding top of grill to cross member. However, grill is still not freed off and there seem to be 2 more fasteners of some kind behind the ends of the actual grey grill and I haven't a clue what they and how to reach them.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

Sean
