£17.44 for light bulb

Can anyone beat this price for changing a light bulb?

I recently had to have a new dipped headlight bulb. Tried to do it myself but it looked so awkward I decided to take it to the main dealer locally for them to fit one. (Thinking they would know how to do it).

The results: -
They took almost an hour working continuously at it. Told me they had never done one before and charged me £17.44 for the priviledge of learning how to fit one on my car.

That's not the best. When I drove home I realised they had fitted it incorrectly so it was pointing down and it wouldn't light up the road ahead. When I looked under the bonnet I found the lid of the fuse box rattling around. They had not refitted it after removing it to get at the light bulb.

Who does one trust to service and maintain your car?

I refitted the bulb myself this morning and refitted the fuse-box cover, all in less than 15 minutes.

Maybe there's a business opportunity here!! Anyone need their bulbs fitting come and see me. I wont charge you the earth!!

Cheers

Luthien

Hi,

I would do it for £16.99 :D.

Perhaps it is the new Fiat on the job training (on your car). It matches the quality control program which relies on the customers to find the faults on delivery.

Not the same company but the same ripoff. I need a new key for my vauxhall zafira and as a result vauxhall charged me £169.00 plus vat and that is just for a key lol. They have a chip inside their keys which is made by them and you are unable to have a key cut anywhere but by them. I will be glad on friday when i pick up my new ulysse i am like a kid at christmas just shows that when it comes to new toys you never grow up.

They are all just as bad as each other [i.e. all CAR dealers]

Had a Fiat Customer Service representative phone me today on my mobile! Follow up to an email sent about 3 weeks ago. AND he had reams of paper in front of him from this Forum. Actually, he was really helpful and seemed concerned. I can't say too much in case he reads this, BUT I made the point about WHY can't they or the dealers monitor these forums so that they can pre-empt any queries/problems that WILL arise....

As far as that bulb, come on Haynes, get a manual out! I would have not paid that much for a bulb - I will do it for £16.98 :p
