| alarums but luckily not excursions The alarm went off last night at 3am. Very heavy rain - was this what caused it? Fortunately the key buttons work through my bedroom window, so I didn't have to go out. Didn't go off again, cross fingers. felix

| guess what? i'm half way round the world from you guys and i have the same problem. the alarm seems to trigger whenever there's any loud disturbance nearby (e.g. thunderclap, loud motorbike, loud dumptrucks etc.,) i tot it was the internal alarm setting so i tried to switch it off and it appeared solved for a while. some time later though, the triggerring happens again. I get "I'm annoyed" stares whenever i return to the car after leaving it at shopping complexes parking areas, and i know it must be from the alarm going off...again (the LED flicks faster when this happens, that's how I know) Appreciate if anybody have any idea how to easily desensitize the alarm (apart from locking the ulysse using the keys, of course). otherwise it seems like another trip to the dealer...again! rgds

| 5vp3r m0d | Hi, I thought this was already covered in an earlier forum. Something about putting some mesh over the sensors! Think it may have been Keggers, but don't quote me.... Stuart

| Yep, was me. Fiat fitted a piece of felt material over each sensor to de-sensitise the alarm. It was actually relatively thick and I thought it would stop the ultrasonics working completely but so far it seems to have done the trick since the alarm has stopped going off and it still detects movement inside the car. Keggers.

| And d'you think this could be tried at home? Or would it invalidate your statutory rights. felix

| It was broken, honest | Hi, I tried using the button by the drivers door to switch off the internal sensor while the dog was in the car. It still went off though, has anybody else tried this. Poggy

| 5vp3r m0d | What button? The only button I can recollect near the door is the one to turn off the ESP etc. I thought the only way to lock the car without setting the alarm was to use the keys in the door! Stuart

| It was broken, honest | Hi, If you open the door and look at the side panel there is a button to switch off the internal alarm. Poggy

| It was broken, honest | Hi, Apparently the diesel cars have got Webasto diesel burning heaters installed. I had one of these in my Freelander and they are great. They run off diesel and are fitted in the cooling circuit of the engine. It heats up the water so that the cabin heater works quickly, especially in very cold weather. On my Freelander I bought the upgrade kit which is a clock/timer, with this you can use the heater to warm up the car and defrost in winter without the engine running. It was great I used to sit in the house and watch the car defrost. Check out www.webastouk.com/page55.html & http://www.welptons.co.uk/news/warming/index.phtml I have read that they are fitted to the 807 and C8 although it doesn't mention the new models on this page. Poggy

| That's a great graphic on that first web link! Reminds me of me and the wife, we often have that "by the door" moment after the kids are strapped down and immobilized in the back. Although we aren't made out of pixels like the two in the picture. felix

| 5vp3r m0d | Excellent - just emailed Welptons to get a quote on fitting! Not exactly near to us, but we have family in Lincoln and Pickering, so Humber Bridge is a stones through from them. My wife uses the car for school run in the morning - two of ours plus two childminded. She may say it is gimmicky now, but as I drive off in the morning in my Mondeo with quickclear windscreen and heated seats....well! Stuart

| It was broken, honest | Hi, Let me know how much it is. I had mine fitted by the Land rover dealer although I ended up going into the workshop and telling the mechanic how it should be wired up. We were there until 7pm after everybody had gone. Funny thing is they still charged me for it, not by the hour fortunately but by the job. All it does it give the heater a 12V supply while the engine is off, otherwise it only runs if the temp is below 5 degrees and when the engine is running. The kit had a timer, additional silencer for the heater exhaust (sounds like a jet plane otherwise when parked) and a one way valve for the expansion bottle. You should be able to see the exhaust for the heater at the front of the car somewhere, probably under the bumper. It should come on this time of year and also you may see some condensation coming out of it. When you stop the engine it goes through a cool down phase, which you should be able to hear. Poggy

| 5vp3r m0d | Hi, Emailed them, but bit too early for a response! Will let you know cost - the quote on the site is for a timer option; I presume remote control will be dearer. Also checked out that alarm button - Oh yeah, who put that there!!! Not yet tried it whilst in the car to prove it does disconnect volumetrics. Stuart

| I had that jet plane noise the other day and wondered what it was. Seemd to come from passenger side of the car near the front. Keggers.
