My new car....

Well I've got a delivery date for the Ulysee. They are bringing it up on a transporter 25th. I only ordered it on the 7th so that is not too bad at all.

I confess I'm really bricking it though. Buying it off the web and all.

I think; What can go wrong? It's a UK car, from a proper Fiat dealer with proper full warranty?....

...and then I have this vision of going into the local dealer to get something fixed and him checking the computer and saying "I'm sorry, according to this your car is actually a 2CV that was written off when an elephant sat on it in Bangalore in 1973..."

Scary stuff. Anyone else ever brought a car off the web?

I bought my vRS off the web, had no problems at all. It took 8 weeks from ordering for mine to come, but that was only because I specced it with options.

Which company have you used?

Drivethedeal. I don't think it is the most competative for bespoke orders but this is a pre-reg. It will be a Good Buy if it arrives with wheels in all four corners....



Pre-reg is not a problem - by the time we've finished with it no one will want to buy it anyway - so the only real compromise is no electric rear doors. Shame. I'm not allowed to talk about that though. Promised the missus. Threats of divorce if I ever bring it up again....

I'd been mucked about so much by the local dealers (espcially Pug ) that I've almost done this out of spite. The C8 SE I was going to buy actually vanished off the computer as I was driving over to sign the contract! Then all the 0% APR offers seemed to vanish when the quarter ended so I could either wait for December or look for some value in a pre-reg. DTD had one so I thought soddit let's go for it. More power to the consumer.

Still a shame about the doors though ...

Just employ some small children to open the doors on your command!

We never did the rear door option on ours - decided to spend the money on the Nav+ upgrade and CDC instead

I think we waited 12 weeks from order to delivery....

What is DCD?

That's the other thing - you can't get a Ulysee brochure for any money at the moment. Tried 3 dealers and Fiat directly. Fiat said "unprecedented demand" but I think they must be changing the specs. I notice the Prestigio isn't on the web site any more and one of the dealers said they were taking the Sat Nav out of one of the models (replacing with 6 CD changer and reducing the price a little bit?)

Because of this he couldn't actually sell me a factory built car (which takes us back to the doors....)

Read a recent post about o/s upgrade allowing MP3 playback? Does that apply to the "CDC" (hey, how savvy am I?) as well? If so, do we have an ETA?

Apparently it doesn't work on the CDC only the RT3 unit.

When you bought from the broker, did you go the dealer to collect it or did they deliver it ?

It sucks that the CDC can't read MP3s - the same is in my Stilo - both headunits are MP3 capable, but I prefer to keep my Nav disk in at all times.

Ah now that's a big disappointment. I'm fed up of replacing smashed up jewel cases so I thought Sat Nav in one, spare one for impulse listening and burn 4 MP3 disks. Ratz. I'm sad now.

They bought it up on a transporter which was fine. Apart from some trivial stuff (no litter bin) the only niggle is I can't find the card with the Key Codes which will need to get sorted. I'll email the dealer today.

Oh and the car is really dirty after 200 miles on the back of a lorry up the M1.

They don't give out the Key code as standard - something to do with insurance....

I ordered mine from the FIAT parts department - cheap enough
