Ahoy, can anybody help me out please?
The LEDs in my small rectangular LCD no longer light up; so I can read the display in the daytime (clock, radio station, messages, fuel etc.), but it's too dark to read at night. It's the LCD on top of the dash, in front or speedo/rev counter cluster.

I was hoping it simply needed a new bulb, but closer inspection shows the unit to contain 2 rows of about 10 small surface-mounted LEDS.

Is there a simple fix for this (dry joint on the PCB was my best hope) or do I need to replace the whole unit? Is it expensive if so?

thanks fellas
John

A replacement would be stupidly expensive - over £400 for even the cheapest (Peugeot, I think) unit. Which would then need coding to your VIN by Lexia/PP2000. Over, I think to "cluster repairs", about £120 - will restore all to normality inclusing removing any vertical lines. If you have vertical lines?

Thanks for that Brittleware - expensive, as expected. I may just leave it for now. And yes, it does have 3 or 4 vertical lines missing. Thanks anyway.
