| Hi Fiat Fans, I have recently been appointed mechanic for the Australian National Cycling Team, based in Italy. All of our race vehicles are Fiats, [ Mereas, Stilos and the old Ulysse] some working better than others. Whilst very mechanically minded and having fixed cars all my life, I am stumped on this one. The Ulysse speedo is currently not working. I first tried the blatently obvious and checked the fuse box and whilst I have no diagram to match it with, none appeared blown, so I have next removed the dash to inspect the green 9 pin connector where the speedsensor is located {or so I am led to believe} and have found no obvious signs of malfunction. After several hours of head scratching {with nearly all of Italy being shut down in the month of August} my next thought was of course the internet. So, my questions are, A: Does anyone have a quick answer, B: Where is the speedsensor recieving info from, C: Where might I find a fuse box diagram, and D: Do Ulysse's come with a self destruct button!!! Regards, Smithro

| Now hacking in PHP | Re: Ulysse Speedo not working... A: No sorry B: The speed sensor is in the gearbox, and operated by a cable going to the speedo unit. If the cable is loose at either end the reading will be faulty. C: The owenrs manual will tell you what all the fuses mean (although you're in italy so even if you get hold of one, you'll need to speak italian!) D: Everytime you turn the key the self-distruct mechanism is engaged... luckily its italian, and doesn't work properly | ||

| Forum Moderator | Re: Ulysse Speedo not working... a)disconnect battery, worth a try as body computer prone to 'glitches'! b)if it has abs it will get speed from wheel sensor c)Is there anything else not working? d)no but matches are cheap to buy! I actually like driving the ulysse & has lots of nice touches but some of the trim leaves alot to be desired.

| Re: Ulysse Speedo not working... Bloody good job mates, Gearbox was appently changed two years ago, and lo and behold, the speedo went off line about the same time. Luckily 2 and 2 equals 5 in Italy. Thanks to all. Will post a picture of all our Fiats when they are all together and working. {God love ya Alex, one day the S.D. will work, matches just leave evidence T14086, thats not the Italian way.}. Regards, Smithro.
