Hi

I've got a 2004 2.0 petrol and I've had for a couple of years and the left hand side registration plate light hasn't worked since I bought the car.

Yesterday I thought I'd get around to fixing it. A two minute job at most. Change the bulb over and Bob's your uncle. But there's no such thing as a two minute job is there?

Changed the bulb in probably around 30 seconds and it still didn't work. Tried another, still nothing. Sod it I thought, I'll leave it for now and try another day. However, this is where the fun started. When I put the boot down, I saw that the right hand side light (brake/rear light) had gone. Took off the rear light cluster (scraped fingers many, many times) and changed the bulb but it still didn't work. Tried another bulb, still nothing!!!

The fuse I thought. Got in the car to check the number 12 fuse in the glove compartment that covers the rear right hand side light cluster and noticed that none of the interior lights came on (they're on the same fuse as the rear cluster). Anyway, changed the fuse (more finger scraping) and the rear light is now working, happy with that but still none of the interior lights come one when you open the doors. (They all work fine if you press them on individually)

Any ideas on what I'm missing, or anything else I need to check?

Many thanks and I'd really appreciate any advice/help.

Cheers

Hi everyone,

Quick update on things. I'm sick with a horrible cold at the moment and it started to snow when I was outside messing around with the car yesterday, with the problem with the interior lights, so wasn't in the best mood to be focused.

Anyway, realised last night that my fat stupid head must have moved the switch on the interior lights to the "off" position, when I was looking at the fuses. So the problem is solved.

Still haven't fixed the registration plate light, but I'll probably leave that for another year or two!

Cheers
