Hi all. Just had the particulate filter (FAP) removed and the engine ECU re-mapped (2.2JTD, late 2003.) Was warned there would be some smoke for a while and yes, there certainly was.

Very impressive torque increase - but still getting (intermittenlyl) the engine management light and an RT3 message "anti pollution system fault". Interrogation tells me it's code PO413 - "Secondary Air Injection switching valve "A" circuit open".

Any ideas where to start looking? TIA!

I didnt think that message came up after FAP removal??
I've certainly not seen it since having mine done. The best thing to do is take it back, maybe they have disturbed a vacuum solenoid or maybe had to be in the fuse box for some reason. You could always try some PCB cleaner on the connector plugs first. This stuff is good value and indispensable for eurovan2 owners http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310691054122

The guys who did the job are as concerned as I am. Spent all afternoon on the quest with them. The problem is that it may have been there BEFORE FAP removal... and may have been the main reason for FAP problems in the first place.

Which connector plugs? FAP has gone, dead, EGR has gone, dead, as far as the engine ECU is concerned. Where on earth is the secondary air (injection) switching valve?

And lastly, which connector plugs do you suggest I clean? Thanks!
I'll certainly double check the engine compartment fuse box, but as the JTD has no air-pump I doubt that'll be a solution.

I thought "secondary air injection" would only apply to petrol engined cars. Have you had a EOBD readout using Lexia/PP2000?

Could be, it is possible that when they have been tinkering with the BSI software that they have inadvertently changed the fuel type to petrol instead of diesel, there is a option in Lexia for both fuel types. There is a fuse in the engine bay fuse box that is used for petrol versions which obviously is empty for diesel variants.

Surely the petrol version wouldn't have the same engine ECU as the diesel, would it?

when these companies change the coding there is a certain element of risk hence the high fees for what seems to be a simple process.

Now some of these companies might used pre-downloaded configurations rather than altering them line by line manually. If they have done the former, then did they program the right file into the ecu? Only a suggestion, not saying otherwise.

Really like Avionista has said, you really do need to plug it into Lexia and explore further.

That fuse - 16 - is present in our engine compartment fuse box and always has been since we bought it! I'll see if I can get Lexia to work...

As far as I'm aware they only connected with the engine ECU - over writing the map. Definitely not using Lexia or PP2000...

Just a thought, if they've re mapped the ECU maybe you'll still need to plug in lexia to remove the Fap system?

Bearing in mind all the different nodes(ecu's) that are on the ulysse' I'm pretty sure FAP is controlled by a separate node that then sends its info to BSI

If I could get Lexia to work, that would be great! Yet again it's not getting past the first screen. "Please restart", etc.. Apart from psa.agent running, what's necessary?

possibly then the fuse box is from a petrol variant and was changed by a PO, try removing the fuse?!

I swap fuse boxes all the time and even from autos to manual gearbox variants without any issues but I have never swapped petrol with diesel (can't see it making any difference though as the loom would probably be missing the wires to that fuse).

didnt you used to have Lexia working?? Have you changed the operating system since?

I wonder if the antipollution crap system could be disabled by simply turning the FAP option off in Lexia (there is an option for it being present or absent). I had a Prestigio without it including the troublesome filler cap sensor.

Would save having to go to the remappers!

My fap have physically been removed and i still get DPS faulty comming up periodically!
Looked in BSI for Fap removal but couldn't find an option to remove!!

Thankfully the DPS faulty just comes and goes as it feels like it with no obvious side effects to the system.????

Off to Cornwall, fault or not! I'll take another lappy and a pen drive with Lexia files, have a go at installing on that one....

sure I saw it the other day, will go have a play now and see if I can find it.

I guess the place I went was "top of the class" as I have not seen any errors since having it done (cost £275).

Clicky, is your DPF filter and FAP tank still in situ?
