hi all
picked up our ulysse 2.0 jtd eleganza today.
is it normal to be quite slow? seems take ages to get going and i am struggling to get out at junctions big change from our old galaxy petrol.
loving the power doors though lol

The 2.0 JTD only produces 110bhp, which is similar to the early 2.0 L petrol engined Galaxy. Later models of Galaxy were fitted with a 2.3L petrol engine producing 142 bhp. The 2.3L petrol Galaxy will accelerate much quicker than a 2.0 JTD, but at a cost, i.e. 25 mpg rather than the 30+ mpg of a 2.0 JTD. On a long journey at 70 mph, the 2.0 JTD will return around 38 mpg.

Some Tips:
1. Ensure your timing belt is replaced every 60-70k miles - if it fails your car may be uneconomical to repair due to problems in removing its injectors.
2. Ensure the 'Drip tray' modification has been fitted to prevent water getting through the timing belt cover. (Many cars suffered premature timing belt failure due to water getting in and freezing overnight on the timing belt cogs. Belt failure often happened when owners started their cars in the morning.)

brilliant. the car has had a cambelt go before we bought it and has had all the work done, head injectors, camblet the lot. which is why we got it.
it seams to be a bit better since picking it up its only done 600miles since the work. what does the mod entail and i'll make sure its done asap. i have read a few post about the maf getting clogged so i'll check that too, just spent all yesterday cleaning out the galaxy ready for sale so not had chance yet.
thanks for the reply

Maybe worth trying a new MAF as that can make the car sluggish if it is faulty.

right had the maf off and no muck in it but looked oily. tried running with it off no improvment. before this though this afternoon, the anti pollution message came on and the car barely moved then all of a sudden picked up. it seems to have improved the getting going but when first pulling away the car crawls in 1st gear and the engine kind of feels flat when you change gear i'll order a new maf see if that helps

so last 2 outings in the car it wouldn't rev over about 3000rpm and crawled along. after about 2-10mins it sort of cleared and seemed to drive fine. stopped for diesel and noticed smoke from under the middle of the car. when i got back in the engine light had gone off and the pollution message had gone. not sure if its sorted itself but i think i'll get a new maf anyway. hope things improve strugggling to get on with the ulysse so far. will keep posted

The smoke underneath is just the auxiliary heater and is normal this time of year.

The problem you have is like the one I have on one of my other Ulysse's in the yard at the moment. In neutral the car will rev over 3000 rpm but is sluggish to get there but when the engine is warm it is back to normal. The engine management light also comes on.

Not got to the crux of the matter yet but suspect a leak somewhere in the vacuum system. Have tried a different MAF, and various vacuum solenoids, there are small cracks in the bottom intercooler pipe but no yet got around to changing it yet.

Have also read it could be a stuck EGR valve. Just need some decent weather to get it sorted so I can sell it.

Got in for the school run and same problem, didnt matter was stuck in traffic today coz of the farmer show thing at the east of england show ground. On the way home car was fine turbo spooled and was good, i never know if its going to be ok or not, going away at the weekend, dont relish going on the a1 lol i,ll have a look at the egr today see what happens

So had the car scanned at the garage and it had 2 codes.
One was air flow improbable and egr circuit deviation.
They cleared it and was fine then this morning light back on. Took it back and the same 2 codes. They found a diesel leak from the aux heater too. Getting them to sort the leak and egr thursday, hope its the end of it.

Hi Phill,

Did you get your car sorted? What was the issue(s) after?
