Hi Guys, right here we go!

I have a 2.0 JTD 03, Fitted with an RT3-N1 and the Multifunction LCD display.

The Display did have the dreaded lines on it (but was usable) However it has now Died(just the Backlights working).

The best Quote I've had for repairs (no Guarentee till they examine the unit though!) is £150.

Does anyone know companies that repair them?

Now during my quest for trying to find a replacement LCD Display (looking for donkey poo is easier), I have come across the opportunity to upgrade to the RT3-N3 and this is complete with its Clocks(speedo, rev etc) and Colour TFT screen, However, before i jump into this i need to know if it will go straight in.

The new unit is from a Pug807.
I know i will need to make sure i get the 'optical Fibre' cable that links the RT3 & Screen and also the dash insert that goes in front of the screen (where my current Multi function LCD sits).
I also believe that this would then have to be coded to my car via the fiat software.

so my questions are:
1. Are there any other bits that I'd need from the 807?
2. I am presuming the arial and main wiring harness are the same.
3. Can the new unit be coded to my fiat
4. Has anyone done this before
5. Has anyone got a copy of Telematics system v5.95

I look forward to your responses ASAP.

Chris

Will shortly have 2 vehicles with both type screens so I will be able to compare them side by side for wiring connectors etc. The RT3 should be the same (rt3-n3-02) in the Prestigio

Try this crowd for a screen repair, http://www.pavlek.de/ I don't know any German and I would like to know if anybody has had any luck with these people, I have posted several times about them but don't think anybody has reported on their experiences.

Thanks digger already sent them an email in translated english/german!
Still waiting on a response.

Well decisions been made, unit and screen purchased! now let the nightmare begin!
Have made sure i've also got the loom from the donaor vehicle to aid with the wiring!!

anybody know if I need the Vin of the donor Vehicle for coding the radio?
or does the donor radio get coded to my Vin?

Hmm just spent 2hours stripping done loom and comparing!
Looks like 95% of the wiring already exists and the remainder will hopefully be relativly easy 'pin swap outs'.

Considering doing a tech thread on this if anyone would be interested?

Not had chance to compare my two breakers yet, busy day at work and the weather haven't helped ( at least my sunroofs still haven't leaked).

First thing I noticed though is the splash screen is different on the RT3 head unit out of the Citroen, so my first experiment will be to simply swap the one out of the Eleganza and see if it works in the C8 without any reprogramming of the bsi using lexia.

How far have you got cliky?

The RT3 units are the same and if looks like the plug for the clocks are the same, just the brown plug on the mono screen differs to the colour screen both which disappear into the wiring loom behind the dash.

Tried the RT3 from the Ulysse in the C8 but not much happened so I'm guessing they need pairing up with Lexia to the bsi but I'll have a go at trying them both in my Prestigio shortly.

not starting mine till sat (need the full day)
From what I have read and gained(circuit diagrams) so far
Changing from Multifunction to Colour LCD involves the following:

RT3 N1 can only power Multifunction Mono display, the RT3 N3 can power either Mono or Colour display the only difference is in which connections are used.

Only 2 of the connections that feed the mono display are used for the colour, there are then an additional 3 wires plus the Fibre optic link that are used for the colour screen.

When I do mine i will be leaving the mono screen connector intact and splicing into it for the colour screen feed so if i ever sell/scrap car i can remove and reinstate previous.

Then once all installed the RT3 and screen will require syncing with my veh.
i believe with lexia software is used for this (mine just arrived today!:)) BUT HAVE NOT USED IT YET:p. I have a new PSU turning up tomorrow for the lappy I'm gonna be installing it all on and using for future diagnostics! (anyone with knowledge of 'which bit' of lexia i need to use to do this please let me know!!!)

I'm also (once it arrives) going to be adding an MP3 (SD card)player / Bluetooth phone link to the car which tunes in via Radio frequency.

This should mean that i can run the sat nav via CD whilst listening to MP3(on the 'radio') and be capable of making and receiving calls on either the RT3 phone or my own!

The only thing I'm currently missing to complete all this (though i may not actually need it) is the latest version of the Telematics software (v5.95), so if anyone out there has one i could 'borrow' it would be appreciated.

so far the only vehicle I've got Lexia to communicate with the bsi is my own 04 Prestigio, all the scrappers I've tried it on I get nothing! That includes 2 C8's!

Oh and my 06 Dispatch Van! Seems vehicles older than 2004 simply don't like my Lexia!

Fon't say things like that! mines a 2003 2.0 JTD,
although i have got PP2000 as well as lexia and Diag box as well!

hopefully one should do the job!

So have I!

On my 2004+ vehicles the VIN number is detected automatically, all the others it didn't. Having put in the VIN and RPO the only thing I can communicate with is the injection ecu.

Hopefully you'll have more luck.

Ah yes see it now the RT3 N1 hasn't got the fibre optic port that the RT3 N3 has got, probably why I couldn't get anything on the screen other than the splash screen! Will try the monochrome screen on the C8 over the weekend to test if it works.

I had a guy with an Eleganza want to buy the colour screen but unfortunately he didn't even have the RT3 N1 unit fitted so basically told him it was far too much work to even think about retro fitting it (what with the lack of the navigation/music switch and of course the GPS antenna not to mention the missing loom connectors)

I've got one of those mp3/sd card radio tuner gadgets, the trouble is when touring you have to keep finding new frequencies as you come into range of different radio stations which interfere. The Xcarlink is the ideal solution but it states that they can't be used on the RT3 N3 - they dont mention the RT3 N1 though -damn!

Yep would be a lot of work but doable

I looked at Xcarlink and emailed em but have yet to get a reply!

Just having a mare trying to instal Diag leaxia and PP2000 at the mo!!

F/FRAN:

Is it possible that the particular hardware interface you are using with Lexia does not support all of the 'K-Lines' required for earlier vehicles? Using PP2000 and the same hardware interface, I am able to communicate with all the ECUs on my 2003 Prestigio (CAN/VAN bus) and with those on my 2006 Peugeot 407 (CAN bus only). In both cases the car's VIN is detected automatically by PP2000, even the Fiat ZFA... VIN.

I'm sure I've tried PP too though.

F/FRAN:

What I was suggesting is that your software (Lexia or P/Planet) may not be at fault, it could be the hardware interface you are using between your laptop's USB port and the car diagnostic socket that is preventing communication with the BSIs on older vehicles.

This is a link to the type of interface which works OK on my cars:
