Uneven tyre wear on rear wheels

After browsing the eurovan site I checked my rear tyres (I have 15" alloys) as I though they looked Ok at first from the outside but on closer examination there is about a 5mm difference in wear with the most wear in the inside. I have spoken to my dealer and they have told me to get a wheel alignment check, before they willhave a look at them, they did not want even to measure the difference today when I had the car in to check the crease line in the seat (they acknowledge that the foam has cracked and are going to sent it to a specialist to get repaired).

Has anyone had this tyre wear problem and what has been the response from their dealers

4 wheel tracking usually solves the problem.

Re: Uneven tyre wear on rear wheels

Well my 2003 Ulysee showed wear on the outside of all 4 wheels.
The dealer replaced the rear axle completely and we had 4 new tyres.
Won't know for a while yet if it's resolved as the tyres are too new.
The front tyre wear can be corrected using the tracking adjustment but I understand that no such adjustment exists for the rear. The tracking of the rear wheels is designed into the rear axle.

Re: Uneven tyre wear on rear wheels

The rear wheels are not adjustable and there is known problem with tyre wear. I would print off some of the Eurovan posts, especially about them changing wheels for the 16" to solve the problem.

I haven't had the problem with the rear wear, but I did have front outside wear which was fixed by tracking. I had a 4 wheel check done just in case we had the rear problem, but it was all fine.

The seat foam can't be repaired as the fabric etc is attached to the foam itself and I can't imagine how they could get the crease out. I had a whole new seat pad replaced under warranty.

Good luck

Re: Uneven tyre wear on rear wheels

Just for interest mine already had the 16" wheels yet still had the tyre wear problem.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the wheel changes did nothing but buy the deaer some more time as the new tyres would take a good while to re present the problem.

Re: Uneven tyre wear on rear wheels

It did sound a bit odd how 16" wheels would change anything.

Re: Uneven tyre wear on rear wheels

Ours came with 16s, and the rear-n/s is shot through - now on the spare because they cord was just about showing ?!

The dealership will be looking at it, armed with this knowledge, and hopefully something will be done. Just need to sort out the Stilo first - aargh, 3 weeks in the garage being fixed

Is it on the inside Stu, I think I will have to go and check mine again. What's the story with the Stilo.

Re: Uneven tyre wear on rear wheels

Spoke to the Tyre shop that first looked at our Uylsse tyre wear problem and told him that fiat had replaced the rear axle. He siad he'd heard that a whole range of Fiat models had been recalled for tyre issues. He was surprised our Uylsse hadn't been recalled.
They seemed to think it was a big issue for Fiat with a number of people having been through them with issues.
Best kept secret of Fiat at the moment?
