| Going abroad On a 2004 Ulysse is it possible to switch the headlight pattern for continental driving or will I have to stick converters or tape onto the outside of the covers? The reason I ask is because my MG has similar style headlamps and has a lever on the rear of the units to move when driving on the continent.

| Re: Going abroad They will need converting but not easy to get hold of. Last year going to France I had to buy some for the older model and do it oner dark night by eye. As I couldn't find any for the new model.

| Re: Going abroad I'd be careful about not having corrected headlamps. I understand the French police are quite hot on UK cars with no corrected headlamps. It's easy for them to see that they aren't corrected during the day.

| Re: Going abroad This is true about France, though in my experience the time you are most likely to be caught is on a French bank holiday. On any of these days they are out in force and do stop cars and it's usually an on the spot fine with the car impounded if you cannot pay. Having said that I gave up using beam masking years ago, it just became too much hassle. There also appear to be many cars on the roads with misaligned beams that you just become one of them.

| Re: Going abroad Hmmmm. So it seems that I will have to make with the tape so as not to upset the French police. I must admit that last year I had some beam benders in the car but never bothered to put them on. With the clock being an hour forward and having children, we were rarely out late enough to need headlights. Just in case you thought I was a bit dumb to ask in the first place, I have found that the Ulysse manual does forget to tell you things (ie. How to turn the cool vent on and off in the drinks compartment) which have taken me ages to find out, so it was worth a try to find a lever. I mean if a fly by night car maker like MG can do it why not FIAT!

| Re: Going abroad OK, so how *do* you turn the cool vent on and off? Not that I've ever felt the need to, but since you mentioned it ;-)

| Re: Going abroad If you open the drinks compartment and lean down and peer into the back you will see a plastic slider (white I think) that slider to open or block a small hole. That's it. If the holes open cold air blows through if it's closed it doesn't Luckily it's one of the few things that won't break on your Fiat.
