Question idle problem ulysse

I have just been reading about how some of you have had problems with the ulysse stalling instead of idle-ing. I am currently having the same problem. at first tempermental now all the time. It will idle down to 500rpm but if drops below then it stalls. Did anyone clean their trottle body/idle valve? Did it work also how easy is it to do? or does anyone know if it is expensive to replace? Sorry for so many questions. Any help would but greatfully recieved.
Regards.
Donald

before you strip anything down try a bottle of injector and carb cleaner a bottle to a tank of fuel my 1997 ulysse had this problem drove me crazy 800 miles later still running fine for heavy doposites you can take the air cleaner off and with engine running pour it in that way .regards george a happy ulysse owner [ so far]

Re: idle problem ulysse

Thanks lanciak69 for the reply. I have already tried injection cleaner, and I have just tried carb cleaner it seems better but still not great. I have taken the stepper motor off the trottle housing and the plunger was covered in a thick coating of black oily muck. Cleaned it up and sprayed the carb cleaner into the housing. Alot of dirt seems to have been washed out. I am still having to be careful as the revs are still dropping low but now not stalling. This could be because I have adjusted the trottle cable by one notch. ( My next car would still be another ulysse! )

Re: idle problem ulysse

Hi,

It seems like allot of people are experiencing problems with the Ulysse not being able to idle, usually when cold but has anyone actually solved this problem 100%. Most of the replies on this site and in the archives have on fix or another but usually just make it better not fixing the problem. We all know that before the problem started our cars would idle perfectly.

I have tried most of the suggestions on this site but they have only helped.

Can anyone tell me where and how to clean out the idle valve, I don’t even know what it looks like? I rung Fiat and they had trouble identifying it on their computer.
Also where and what does the ECU look like.

Cheers.

Re: idle problem ulysse

Hi Darren and welcome to the forum.

What year and engine size do you have in your Ulysse? We have access to ePer, the FIAT parts guide.
