hi all im new to this so be gentle
just over 2 weeks ago the family all dressed up to go to family party got in the ulysse turned the key engine turned over but nothing called breakdown people out they couldnt get it going checked ecu said no faults recorded , so contacted mechanic who i use who said it sounded like the ecu unit was faulty , so he took it to be tested and the results said it was working perfect , so the mechanic has been checking the car over and hes found the fault , its the bsi unit thats at fault so i need a second hand one , dont fancy buying a new one , then the unit needs reprograming and the keys need doing also , reason im on here is does anyone know of a good second hand supplier its for a 54 plate 2.0 ltr ulysse manual not auto

 Ebay or swan street salavage should be able to sort parts cheap. But i have to ask whats a "bsi unit?" Reprogramming key to car/ ecu is simple and strange normally head up display gives a fault or a series of odd faults b4 total fail of unit( any strange display fault recently?) Good Luck

apparantly its a body module unit, no strange readings at all , when it wouldnt start i had nothing on display and no mileage at all

;) Body control unit. Sorry this sounds more like a you should be looking at the fuse box under the bonnet (left side as you face the car) For water ingress. Its common (Top cover comes loose) you have to remove the box and pop the base unit off to see if there is signs of water in it.(had you just washed hosed down car/heavey rain b4 it packed up? When you lock car and open it can you hear the fuel pump ticking? Have you tried remarry key to ignition/ecu? And i take it every thing works engine turns over but will not fire? (do a search on engine imobiliser fault/water in fuse box/key remarry on this forum) good luck

the breakdown man had checked all the fuses in that box and didnt see any sign of water ingress, as for the other thing marrying up the key i,ve never heard of it

the car doesnt lock by pressing the key , i.e central locking doesnt work electric mirrors , doors, widows, radio and the centre display has lost all memory also mileage has gone back to 000000

When you mechanic looked at the fuse box did he take it out and split it gently apart at the bottom to look for signs of water ingress?
Key remarry
Insert key turn to first click press hold lock button keeping it pressed turn to lights (battery oil light etc) light up keeping button held down
turn back to first position release button.do this three times then remove key and try lock unlock buttons see if it works? Note key not working normally shows a "engine imobilsor fault on display"
have you tried disconnecting battery for half hour then reconnecting to "reboot" system?

yes mate spoke to the mechanic about water in the fuse box and he has checked and nothing , he knew about this cos he had one with water in late last year , had battery disconnected for over 12 hours but still no reboot ,

:( Sorry might be time to bite the bullett and "dealer time" but find a good one...peugeot citreon included.Good Luck (good fiat one in kent were are you?)

i live in nottingham , nearest one to me is a sandicliffe one £94 an hour , i was trying to get a ecu unit , bsi unit plus the keys from one car fit them to mine and get the mileage amended to what it is on my car , but the breakers are struggling to get the parts with matching numbers to mine , was also thinking of ringing some peugeot breakers when all said and done thats who make the parts for the fiat

hi , cars been to local fiat dealer , they had it 2 weeks after first few days came to the conclusion it needeed a bsi unit they sent for one from fiat in italy it arrived a few days later they tried to fit it to the car but they couldnt do it cos the unit had been used on another car ( they sent a second hand unit ) so dealer got in contact with them and they sent another unit this was fitted to my car successfully and i got my car back yesterday only problem is though its gained nearly 3000 miles , i asked them how this had happened and they said they didnt know how cos the mileage isnt stored in the bsi unit its stored somewhere else i said its cos they tried to fit that other unit and the cars got the mileage from that they said thats not possible cos the other unit couyldnt be coded to my car so no information was passed on , then they asked me where my ecu unit was tested and said it must be them either tried it on another car or put in the wrong code , i told them it was tested by a specialist company and that i couldnt see that happening , today they contacted fiat and they also said it must of been the ecu people , but i've3 read on a peugeot forum that even if you just plug a different bsi unit into your car the mileage is picked up straight away , is this true are the fiat dealers coming it
