| Key Fob / Cenral Locking Hi All, Apologies, I know this has been done to death in part but looking for bit more help / info. My 1998 'S' 2.0 EL central locking fob is not working. The key is funny ovoid shape with fold out key and buttons on edge of fob. I've had a look inside, replaced the battery and checked the contacts (little silver legs all seem intact). The rubber buttons are very worn. Any ideas on how to check if key or receiver is completely dead or how to 'reset' the key? On slighlty diferent topic, Should all EL's have engine immobiliser keypad and climate control? Mine has no keypad and what looks like normal heater controls, it has all other EL extras like electric seats windows / twin roof etc. Thanks,Ant

| Re: Key Fob / Cenral Locking The El was the UK high spec model, there is a very rare ELX that had a small number imported to the UK, but I have only ever seen one. The EL should of had Climate and if it was a facelift Mk1, then it should of had a transponder immobiliser, not keypad (they were unreliable). Problem was that Fiat offered standard heater controls as a no cost option, so some of these were built and sold. Not exactly sure why you would spec a car like this, although it was cheaper to buy this rather than an S with the other EL extras.

| Re: Key Fob / Cenral Locking Hi, The battery in mine is a single 2016 but I believe the Mk 2 Ulysse fob takes two batteries if that is of any help. Thanks, Ant

| Re: Key Fob / Cenral Locking Hi, I was under the impression that the Mk1 ran from 95-03 and the Mk2 was 03-06. I thought the facelift Mk1 ran from 98? My one battery fob has two buttons on the side whereas I thought the Mk2 fob had upto 5 bottons on the face? Hope this all makes sense! Ant

| Simple answer no, mine never had the keypad or aircon. There was also a manual aircon as well as the auto control air con (Climate control).
