Re: Tyres

H and V are the speed rating. V is rated higher than an H (rated I think at about 113 mph I seem to remember), V is higher. So you're alright there.

Re: Tyres

You need to ensure the tyres have re-enforced walls for extra load handling. Using the wrong tyre can cause increased wear.

Re: Tyres

Interesting what you say. I contacted my local Fiat dealership and they told me (as did ATS and National Tyres) that the Mk.1 Ulysse.Synergie/806 didn't need reinforced walled tyres. Do we know if they were OE?

Re: Tyres

I have 1996 Ulysse 2.0s.

I also have used ATS for tyres. I had 2 front tyres over a year ago, and a new back tyre a few weeks ago.
ATS say if the car doesn't have re-enforced tyres when it comes to them, it is not a requirement for this model of Ulysse, so re-enforced tyres are not rquired for the mark 1 models.

This has been a topic of conversion at work as I have college who have a Ford Galaxy, and he has had to have re-enforced tyres fitted.
He has been told that any tyre pressure that requires 36psi or more, it is a requirenent to have re-enforced tyres.

Hope this info. has been of some use.

Re: Tyres

From my MK1 hand book:
2.0 and 1.9TD is 205/65 R15 T
2.0 Turbo and 2.1TD is 205/65 R15 H
If that helps ? Nothing about reinforced! or tyre loading, ie, 94 95 96 etc.
Never used ATS BTW.
Km/h MPH
S 180 113
T 190 118
U 200 125
H 210 130
V 240 150
W 270 168

It'll say so on the tyres' sidewalls, but they may use a different word from 'reinforced'.

When I had a Mk 1 Ulysse I checked on a brand new Mk 1, just delivered from Fiat, and it did not have reinforced tyres. However, I found that reinforced tyres lasted much longer on the rear, so I always fitted them on the rear wheels. The car went through front tyres too quickly to notice any sidewall wear / cracking, so I didn't bother for the front.

Re: Tyres

I checked with Goodyear about rienforced tyres on my 96 EL back in the summer before going on holiday, and they said not required. Some 7 seaters do need them and I've heard it said that they handle better on rienforced tyres when carrying a full payload of 7 bods + luggage.
