| Dead Ulysse Well, we've had our 54 plate 2.0jtd Eleganza now for just short of 3 years. And I have to say, it has been a tremendous car! Bit thirsty, but hey! with this much space, I guess that was inevitable. But coming back from our 2 week holiday in Paris, with caravan in tow. We got about 30 miles outside the hull ferry terminal on our way home, when she just died!!! We got a brief error message about Anti Pollution Faulty, then it lost power and we coasted to the hard shoulder and she then failed to start! Wound down the passenger window to talk to my pal who was following and it wouldn't wind back up again! And display said the car was entering economy mode and then the central display would switch off. Got towed back to Stoneacre Fiat dealer in Rochdale who have had the car over 2 full days now and don't seem to be any nearer letting me know what the fault could be! The recovery guy checked that the fuel was getting to the pump, which it was and that the engine was cranking over on the starter, which it did. He then came to the conclusion that something electronic was not letting the pump delver fuel into the cylinders. So with the windows not working or the connect system either, we're a bit foxed, to say the least. Has anyone else out there suffered similar symptons or knows anyone who will have an idea what the problem is? Please let me know, so that I can let the "expert's" at my local dealership know, rather than have them fumbling around in the dark at around £80/hr and my expence. Regards Alex Braid.

| Re: Dead Ulysse Hi acbraid, It sounds like the same problem my wife had (and a few other people). See my post "cam belt jumped?". The cam belt might have snapped. My dealership thought it was something electrical first, then thought the cam belt had jumped, and after stripping it down found that it had snapped and jammed somewhere. They have been very helpful and are contacting fiat. Do a search for snapped cam belt or timing belt here and on the www.eurovan2.com forums, and google for snapped cam belt for the ulysse, citroen c8 and peugeot 807. If it is then please email scouseart@aol.co.uk as he is building up a list of people who have had the same problem. Good luck.

| Re: Dead Ulysse Cheers for the reply! I have been back at the dealer today (Day 4) And they are still no closer to resolving it! They still think it it something to do with the electrical system as the fan controls no longer work, along with the electric windows and the connect system. Will however ring them now and ask if the cam belt is a possibility. They have some technical Guru coming up from Slough on Monday so he'll have a look at it then. Will keep you posted. Regards Alex.

| Re: Dead Ulysse Hi was it raining/our been raining when your ulysse died???? Read up on "water in fuse box" and "engine immobliser fault" on this site and point your dealer in the most common direction. Hope this helps

| Re: Dead Ulysse No it wasn't raining when it died! Read that thread myself and kind of hoped it was something that straight forward. Dealer still has no idea what is at fault, and i'm getting a little frustrated with them at the moment. I've also told them that i'm not prepared to accept a huge bill for their so called expertise. Just wondering if I should get Fiat UK involved at this stage, as we've not even been offered a curtessy car! Cheers Alex.

| Re: Dead Ulysse Well, we're into week 4 now and i've still not got my car back! And the dealer can't give me an answer as to when i'm likely to get it back! Turns out that the belt snapping did do some more damage, bending at least 2 valves. The problem then of course is getting the head off! As we then come to that old chestnut of removing the injectors!! The dealer had to use an angle grinder to get through these and i'm now in need of a new cylinder head! Which is where the delay now lies, as this is on back order! Total cost of the repair will be somewhere near the £5k mark, which i'm getting 60% contribution from Fiat for, so i'm still expected to pay £2500. Not best pleased as you can imagine! Will let you know when I eventually get my car back! Alex.
