Ulysse handbrake problem

anyone any good with or had experience with Ulysse handbrakes? After being parked up for a day or so my handbrake seizes on - it's ok in normal use. I have to use the engine to free it off but that's a bit brutal. Are these 'normal' brakes or is there anything to watch out for when servicing them?

Re: Ulysse handbrake problem

Never had any problems with ours.
They are disc at the rear which is becoming increasingly common.
Could be cable siezing up or the mechanisum at the wheel.
Can't help more than that. Do post back what you find though.

Re: Ulysse handbrake problem

Hi, the last bank holiday weekend, we was all packed up ready to go camping for the weekend, and i decided to nip to the shops before attaching the trailor and setting off, handbrake seemed fine, but when i parked at the shops i couldnt get the handbrake on at all, so decided to drive back home, but then has i started to drive the handbrake came on, and i couldnt get it off, so i had to crawl home with it stuck on. We only purchased the car in april so rang the garage (main dealer) and they said to bring it straight in, it turned out that a pin had come out of a rachet??? so was mended very quickly. My husband had noticed the handbrake had seemed a bit loose the last time he had drove the car but didnt think anything of it. Not sure if your problem is anything like what we experienced? Hope you get a solution soon.

Re: Ulysse handbrake problem

Hi, What year is the car? My 1997 TDEL had the same problem with the rear drums, I eventually fitted new slave cylinders and shoes and all was then well again, I think if the linings wear too much the adjuster can be a little tricky. I also ground off the lip on both drums at the same time. Hope this helps,
Tony
