Newbie Ulysse owner needs advice

Hi

After driving the 1997 2.0S that we bought a few weeks ago, a few issues/quirks, call them what you like, have emerged.

First: There is a very slight drift to the left when I let go of the steering wheel: Solution - don't let go of the wheel . But is this indicative of wear or damage to a steering/suspension component? what's most likely?

Secondly: In the recent hot weather, when we were caught in a jam, the temp rose and was heading up towards the red before we eventually got going again... and the temp soon dropped below 90 again. I didn't hear the fan come on (when does it come on?) and although I've checked the fuse(s) finding nothing blown, I might be missing something. What's the best course of action? I'm thinking, change thermostat, replace old rad cap, flush cooling system (making sure all the air's out)....
Is this a common issue?

Thirdly, I noticed a plug with a purple connector loose around the top, front n/s radiator, by the large hose there - is this a diagnostics plug or should it be connected to something?

Then, I have a slight oil leak - nothing too bad at all - but is there a common weak point for these engines?

Also, what are the best spark plugs and oil filter to fit?

Finally - for now - I get some clutch judder sometimes when pulling away. There is no other suggestion of clutch slip - what causes this? can it be adjusted?

So, the bottom line is, can anyone with experience of these somewhat generic vehicles, offer some advice for the above and maybe post a list of precautionary/preventative measures I should consider for our Ulysse? cheers!

Hi
Mine pulled to the left but having the suspension checked with a laser set up stopped it.

Cheers

Thanks for that. When I get the tyres replaced I'll get the tracking done too.

Anyone else offer advice for the other 'issues' I mention? I'm off to France in it this summer and would certainly like to get them sorted - or at least lessened.

Cheers!

Get the tracking checked

I check the fan out first. Does it work if you override the thermal switch?

No idea not seen this.

Not been an issue on ours after 60,000 miles.
I'd have the engine cleaned and then see where it's coming from.

Mines a diesel. But filter is whatever the local motorfactor has.

Engine mountings?

Re: Newbie Ulysse owner needs advice

Thanks, Pat for taking the time to reply. Most helpful: I hadn't thought of checking engine mountings for instance. I noticed there's another thread about cleaning engine bays, so I'll give it a go....

I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers

Re: Newbie Ulysse owner needs advice

At the risk of appearing a complete numpty, here's a pic of a plug in my 1997 Ulysse 2.0S engine bay, mentioned previously. Now, can anyone shed any light on what it is?

I've highlighted it and done an inset of the business end.

Also what can I do about the rubber trim on the door tops? Is it easy to replace?:

Don't know what the plug is yet.

Great, does that mean Synergie/806 fit too (as one would expect, of course!)?. In which case where is the best source? Fiat/Citroen/Peugeot dealership? Or... any suggestions? What's the best adhesive to use?

Cheers

Phil
