Third Year Warranty - Admin Fee

Hi,

I wonder if someone can advise. My Ulysse celebrates its third birthday next weekend, I have been the owner for around half of this time.

The engine light started to come on recently, so I took it into my local dealer. I have read about the various explanations for this light, but the reason diagnosed by my local dealer was:

"particulate filter pressure diff signal fault, traced fault to sensor"

I was asked to produce the service history, in order that they could undertake the necessary work. The fax number that they gave didn't work, and the copy that I posted to them somehow didn't make it to my file. I delivered a copy of the service history by hand last night.

I have just had a 'phone call from them, tyelling me that it will cost a £27 admin fee, in order for the warranty to be transferred to my name. I have never come across this before, is it normal? If so, is it worth the fee, given that very few people ever seem to get to the bottom of this fault (ie the "sensor" diagnosis, might just be an attempt to fob me off)? Presumably once the work has been done, if the light remains on, the vehicle becomes out of warranty?

Any thoughts would be gratefully received.
