JTD Cambelt

Hi,

Just bought a 2.0JTD Ulysse (2000).

Just wondering what the change interval is on the cambelt, and roughly what am I looking at paying to get it changed.

Not talking about main dealer, as satan will skate to work before I takeany of our cars to a main dealer!

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ciphor,
Can't help you with your question about the Cam Belt, but thought I would point something out. Most of the 'Experts' who give the best advice on here are Technicians/Mechanics in Main Dealers, so you won't get much back by being negative about Main Dealers.

I'm frequently having to pay them myself (in fact, my Ulysse's been in since Saturday now), and at £68+vat per hour it's crippling me!

Re: JTD Cambelt

Hi,
I always do mine at about 60K, I changed mine last week in my 03 JTD Eleganza, kit cost €72 (Gates) that included idler and tensioner. ALWAYS change water pump as well.(About €65) Very easy to change compared to the older 1905cc engine. Don't know about labour charges, I did it myself, it took me about 3 hrs. Hope this helps.
Tony

Re: JTD Cambelt

Hi,
Make sure you do the WATER PUMP as well, mine collapsed last year near Zagreb, very lucky it didn't take out cam belt as well, price sounds OK
