Newbie Queries

Afternoon all, I'm a first time poster, long time lurker.
I have a couple of questions that I can't figure out from the manual or my own initiative:

1. Does anybody know how the manual re-route on the Connect + works? I tried this a few weeks ago and couldn't make any sense of it at all, erither from the manual or the on-screen prompts.
2. Despite activating the Traffic Announcement facility, I can't receive the broadcasts, although the radio does go quiet occasionally as though it is trying to process the information...
3. I have a broken sun-blind and the dealer is useless - charging me £95 and then ordering the wrong item. Should I be trying to get this sorted under warranty?

BTW I have a 03 2.0 Auto Eleganza with no options, if that helps.

All responses gratefully received.

Hello Roger/lurker - welcome to the forum.

A few answers:

1. Manual re-route - I have seen it, but never had any call to use it. I imagine that depending on the distant you put it, it will try and find a re-route up to that distance - say, for instance, you had roadworks ahead. Have you actually tried putting a figure in to see what the revised map gives you??

2. TA announcements - I presume you are listening to a BBC or EON station. Mine works! Are you listening to the radio or CD at this time? It may be that it is picking up a distant signal that is not strong enough to over-ride. Be aware that TMC is not yet fully supported on the RT3 unit; we await in anticaption.

3. The dealer should replace the sun-blind under warranty. This is a known issue with the car. Mine broke as it caught when the door was being opened.

Hopefully we can get a few more responses!!!

Stu

Hi,

1. - manual re-route - never used it in over 20000 miles of driving. Can't help - sorry.

2. TA Announcements - they do work, but I get so frustrated with the times it gets flagged for a TA alert and then can't lock on to the station (the silent periods) that I tend to turn it off and ring the AA Roadwatch service instead! I've noticed that these periods of silence seem worse in the West Midlands area - having TA on around London tends to get proper bulletins more often than the silence!

3. Not had experience of this, but there are numerous posts around (some here and some on the Eurovan2 forum) that show that dealers will replace these under warranty if pressed. I wish you luck with this.

John ;)

Many tghanks for your replies.

I tired the manual reroute to avoid an accident on the M4, but it kept trying to point me back onto the junction I had just left, which rather defeated the purpose. It was only when I was closer to the nexty junction that it realised what it was doing.

Re. the TA, I am a sad TOG and listen to BBC2, but agaian on the M4 it doesn't seem to pick up the TAs even if they should be coming from BBC Wiltshire/Bristol or GWR Swindon/Bristol.

I will have a fight re. the sun-blinds.
BTW, are all dealers equally useless?

Thanks again
RM

Not all, but I get the feeling a reasonable number of them are!

I've added a link to my recent problems with Arnold Clarke (Stourbridge) there. I see Arnold Clarke as a company have other mentions in that thread!
