Electronic seats

Has anyone managed to program the remotes to get the electronic seats to get to the correct position depending on which remote is used to open the car.

I am 6ft 4 and Mrs M is a foot shorter so it would be really good to get this to work so that we don't have to fiddle with seats and mirrors every time we get in.

As usual, the handbook makes it sound simple, but does it work? No!

It seems to me that alot of the extra gizmos (such as the auto lights, wipers and seats) are quite difficult to set up, and despite following the handbook, don't always work!

Any thoughts/advice much appreciated!

Rich

It works a treat....

First program the two seat programs appropriately. Lets assume you have memory 1 and your wife has memory 2. Now lets assume you each use your own key. You unlock the car with your key and select memory 1. When finished, lock the car. Now your wife unlocks the car with her key and then selects memory 2. Once she locks the car with her key the job is done.

Next time you unlock the car with your key it'll switch to seat position 1, and when your wife unlocks it with her key it'll switch to seat position 2.

Lights are easy to set up. Just press and hold the appropriate button until the car says they're activated, and it's done! Wipers are just a case of switching them to the first active position (and the car'll tell you they are on).....

I hope you get the hang of the extras - they really aren't that hard to use!

Thanks for the advice - managed to sort it out tonight with a clear head and 2 keys.

Auto lights are definitely a 'return to the garage' job - I think they need reprogramming with the set up disk as when they were first delivered, only the sidelights were on all the time.

I'll let you know if they resolve it.

Glad you got the seats sussed - it really is a godsend to have the memory positions linked to the keys! I'm 6'4" and my wife is 5'4" (like you and yours!), and we have found it so much easier with this car and this feature than we have in any other car I've had so far! :D

I'm getting them to look at the voice mic on the phone a swell. I managed to record myself at 70mph on the mobile and it sounds awful. Am I right in thinking that you talked somewhere about putting a piece of foam in the mic holder to deaden the echo, which seems to be the main issue. There isn't much background noise but the resonance on my voice and feedback to the caller is pretty high.

What's your experience on this point?

Hi,

My experience is that the mic is "a pile of pants". A collegue in Holland has a C8 and has just got a new normal mic fitted under warranty and it is great.

I have asked Fiat for the same.

Hi Andy,

That is interesting news - I wonder if Fiat UK will oblige. Once they do, surely a precedent has then been set.

What is a normal mic and how does it differ from what is currently fitted?

I presume normal mic means a replacement mic!

There is a way you can make it better by putting dense foam in the cavity behind the mike; I think a few guys on here have already tried it.

As per my reply in another thread here.....

See the end of the thread here(http://www.eurovan2.com/modules/vbulletin/upload/showthread.php?t=1473&highlight=microphone+foam) for details....

Pending someone getting the 5.41 upgrade for the RT3 unit, a combination of this and keeping the phone volume below about 15 seems to do the trick (rules out using it at speed down the motorway though!)....

Picked the car up tonight - master technician hadn't heard of the Fiat Forum and is going to check it out. Have put foam behind mic which has improved slightly although I think the answer will be that the mic is moved out of the holder and attached to the roof lining somehow.

Fiat have no idea when the next update is due out.

This should improve things a bit I think.

There are a few people on the Eurovan2 forum that have taken the mic out of the holder and either velcroed it to the roof or just let it dangle and who report some improvement. I'm not going to resort to that just yet - want to see what 5.41 does first!

Tried that yesterday with no tangible improvement. Fiat are swapping my unit with their demonstrator next Wednesday as the master technician has got his teeth into this phone issue.

He faxed Fiat on Wednesday with the details of the problem and they've not provieded any new info. He now knows about this website and is going to look at it this weekend.

Be interested to see if the new software release does anything. I asked earlier this week if a new update was due and the answer was yes but don't know when.

My phone is u/s until Wednesday - I managed to drop the sim card slot down the gap between the unit and the cover - disappeared into the abyss so new one being obtained. Not a part stocked by the Fiat dealer!

I'll let you know how I get on (although I suspect no change after Wednesday).

The 5.41 software upgrade seems to have made a significant improvement....

You could go on a drive to a non-local Fiat (or preferrably Peugeot or Citroen) and have a sit in the showroom model...........
