| 5vp3r m0d | Roofboxes Hi, Does anyone use a roofbox on their Ulysse? I am about to buy one, and any advice would be appreciated. Having had a look at the built-in roofbars, they look quite thick, whilst the actual bit for attaching onto looks quite narrow [i.e. across the width of the car itself]. I would prefer more of a streamlined box [Thule?], but don't want to forego too much space. Thanks Stuart New Fiat Ulysse 2.2JTD Eleganza, in silver, with options :D

| Morning Stu, Hope that you had a nice birthday! I have just bought a Thule Ocean 200 (450 litres) for £195 delivered next day. This was the best price I could find from www.saveanddrive.co.uk. (They also threw in 2 folding warning triangles for free). They sell them on ebay but the price is higher because of all the fees, so go direct to them. The box is great quality and looks good too. They also have quick release (no tools) brackets for fixing on to the bars. Not used it yet but will be doing next weekend. Hope that this helps. 03 Ulysse Eleganza 2.0 Auto

| 5vp3r m0d | Hi Leigh, Thanks for that - seems like a good price to me. I have been looking at this site http://www.roofbox.co.uk/ because they are throwing in a free roof box hoist, which could be useful. Been looking at the Thule Evolution 900XT, but don't want to go tooooo mad. However, the extra capacity would be useful [extra shoes for the missus!!!!]. Next issue is the ferry - we need it to go to Eire this year, and I reckon there is a 2metre height limit [we are using the highspeed catamaran] - I am now waiting a reply from Stena to see if this includes a roofbox, which may push me over the limit. | Take the roof box off when at the ferry and put it in the car and passengers go as foot people! Just a thought,we did it when in europe using a Sharan a little fiddly but worked

| :) | Or pay the £10/£20 supplement needed for high roofed cars and go in with the caravans...that's what we used to do. ---------- Uno 1.0ie Start. Standard.

Paul, I have already emailed Stena this morning - don't forget, it is a fast catamaran, so may have other restrictions on it anyway. If it comes out as a supplement, it will be well worth it :D Stu New Fiat Ulysse 2.2JTD Eleganza, in silver, with options :D

| :) | I know, i meant to put "if possible" for forgot to edit. Obviously I am only talking about standard ferries and the channel tunnel. It was only £10 each way last time we went. We once booked a very late holiday in france and the people we went through never mentioned the problem with headroom of a roofrack (it was our 5th year going and Brit ferries had just added that rule but the reseller hadn't told us). Brit ferries were telling us "you have to take it off and carry it on as hand luggage!" - Mad french! lol. Eventually they just let us on.... ---------- Uno 1.0ie Start. Standard.

| 5vp3r m0d | Well, if I do get the one I want, it has a 75kg capacity [roofbars can take 100kg] - I don't fancy carrying that around the ferry, lol. Plus catamaran rules say one small piece of hand luggage each, stowed away in overhead lockers. New Fiat Ulysse 2.2JTD Eleganza, in silver, with options :D

| :) | Big overheard lockers?! We also questioned how the heck we were expected to lift that aboard and keep it on a 6 hour odd crossing! ---------- Uno 1.0ie Start. Standard.
